Sil says well no but its not fair i should of been thanked to. Have i missed somethink was aibu?

She didn't get your dds a present, but did she get anyone else in the family a present you could have thanked her for or did she invite you to her home at all?

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 08:37

Why no leave Facebook the hell alone and get the children to write old fashioned thank you notes? That way you only need to send them to people who send them presents and people who don't won't know.
Also getting a thank you note is much nicer than a Facebook post.

HappyHippyChick · 28/12/2014 09:12

I hate to do this Calleigh but there is no three letter word alot. You can have a lot of something or you can allot someone something.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 28/12/2014 09:16

And you thought "I know! I'll join MN to post my semi literate Facebook related whinge"

CaptainAnkles · 28/12/2014 09:20

I think you should write a huge paragraph thanking SIL for the list of gifts. The car, the bike, the remote controlled helicopter, the hamper, the valuable golden peanut, the unicorn, the basilisk fang...

CaptainAnkles · 28/12/2014 09:45

How is alot a three letter word, even if it was real, which it isn't? Confused

TheBatteriesHaveRunOut · 28/12/2014 09:52

'lot' is a three letter word
how can people misspell it by adding a letter in front

OP - your SIL is a crazy
I hope when it's her birthday and you don't send her a present, you call your BIL up and tell him how upset you are she's not thanked you for the non-existent present.

CalleighDoodle · 28/12/2014 09:53

Thats my point lol!! It is lot. A then lot. There's no such word as alot so why do so many people, so so many, think there is?! And now people are starting to write 'abit'. What is that about?!

CalleighDoodle · 28/12/2014 09:55

Yes batteries that is what i meant.

I totally agree with thank you cards too. Ive been the rude person typing under a 'thank you for all the gifts' fb status with 'does this mean I'm not getting an actual thank you?'

KenAdams · 28/12/2014 10:13

Someone who can spell conclusion correctly but not anything? I smell a wind up thread...

emms1981 · 28/12/2014 10:17

Sounds like my inlaws, my bil never sends my dh, children or me a card, no happy birthday then phones dh to tell him its his wifes birthday, I think my dh said "that's nice"

merlehaggard · 28/12/2014 10:21

I'm with you triptrap. I nearly stopped reading cos the grammar/spelling was driving me mad. Confused

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 10:24

'Cos' the grammar and spelling were driving you mad? Really? Cos is not a word!

pinkyredrose · 28/12/2014 10:26

I have nuffink to add to this thread.

Will there be mention of wine, a wasp, or Sharon in a minute?

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 28/12/2014 13:16

OP wrote 'have' in the title and then 'of' in the post. I think the 'of' was deliberate.

GraysAnalogy · 28/12/2014 13:23

^

I do that sometimes because of how I speak, I have a very common accent and sometimes it slips into my writing.

wobblyweebles · 28/12/2014 13:40

triptrap - if you're going to criticise other people for spelling and punctuating incorrectly could you please start putting spaces after your commas?

Thanks, the grammar police.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 28/12/2014 14:05

Umm,no Wink my phone doesn't like it

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 28/12/2014 14:10

I think that dash should be a comma.

Thumbnutstwitchingonanopenfire · 28/12/2014 14:11

"Cos" is a word, it's a type of lettuce.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 28/12/2014 14:20

LOL

merlehaggard · 28/12/2014 15:26

I thought I'd be picked up on cos but decided not to change it. I don't mind it cos it's an abbreviation. It isn't exactly a grammar mistake, although obviously not grammatically correct.

Pipbin · 28/12/2014 15:34

Cos is not an abbreviation, it's lazy.
It's not a grammatical mistake.
Either poor spelling and grammar wind you up or they don't. I am far from perfect but I wouldn't use cos when because is hardly difficult to get right.
