I did a charity race in the countryside yesterday and took my dog. There was a walk version which we did and then a run a few hours later.

On finishing I was quite happily walking to the building where the reception was. A man who appeared to be photographing the event in some sort of professional capacity approached me. The following exchange took place.....

Man: Are you doing the run with your dog?
Me: No, we've just done the walk.
Man: Oh I wanted a photo of the two bitches (with a semi smile that suggested he thought he was being amusing).
Me: Shock Shock Confused Confused Hmm Hmm Angry Angry Excuse me?? Why in shuddering FUCK do you think that's an acceptable thing to say to a complete stranger? Get some bloody manners you rude misogynist pig.

I honestly was this close to throwing the contents of my complimentary bottle of water in his face or decking him.

Tell me I wasn't being unreasonable??

Oh I see, what a moron! Glad you told him off!

Excuse me if I sounded condescending, it was not my intention! Only I thought perhaps you misinterpreted him! But clearly not he was just a twot!

Report to the event organisers and whoever employs this fucknugget.

Wanker.

anothernumberone · 27/12/2014 17:28

Yep the water over the head and camera wold have been a grand finale. What an unholy shitebag. I love your name by the way.

Tryingtobecalm · 27/12/2014 17:32

Shock and glad you are complaining!

And also love shuddering fuck!

HermioneWeasley · 27/12/2014 18:09

I love the fact you had such a fabulous comeback!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 27/12/2014 18:12

Wanker.

Andrewofgg · 27/12/2014 18:21

Where do they get them from . . .

RevoltingPeasant · 27/12/2014 20:06

Op my DH works for a charity organising events. Please please say something to the charity. They put in so much work to raise money for good causes and they will have employed this man to help them publicise their work. If he is rude to the participants, who are actually raising money for the charity, he is costing them goodwill and donations.

Trust me, they will want to know. Email the charity's events or communications manager directly. Or, if it is a small or local one, the CEO.

It happened in Ireland Work. I'm Irish but live in the UK. Home for Xmas.

I find regular reasons to feel depressed regarding the treatment of and attitudes towards women here.

TBH I found the attitudes to women in the UK equally depressing when I worked there OP. I was asked about my plans to have children in a number of job interviews. I was 23 at the time. I was given the job to answer the phones in an office I worked in as a consultant engineer when the receptionist was off sick because people expect to hear a woman answer the phone and many other examples. I personally do not find much difference between the 2. I love the UK btw and it was a great place to live and work and it is stunning but I did not exactly find it to be the last bastion of feminism.

OHolyShite · 27/12/2014 22:38

I'm not claiming that the UK is the pinnacle of progression another but when you take into account abortion rights and how Catholicism has treated women I'd definitely say it's better than Ireland.

Anyway, not the point of the thread. I love Ireland and 90% of the people I know here are fantastic. And I'm doing another race on New Years day. I'll have my water bottle at the ready Wink .

You deserve a medal OP. Well done for saying what you did straight away instead of spluttering at the time and getting enraged later!
And 'shuddering fuck' is my absolute new favourite cuss of all time!

Shattered2014 · 27/12/2014 23:11

Fantastic response - well done!

ChasedByBees · 27/12/2014 23:20

Good response! How did he react?

You will complain won't you? It's disgraceful that someone acting in a professional capacity is harassing the people taking part.
