MIL and brother flirting all day .... yuck I've had enough.

MIL is nearly 80, brother late 40s FFS. Started off quite sweetly, haven't seen each other for a couple of years, he comments on how great she looks etc etc.

As drink flowed this afternoon it's moved on to a whole new level of sexual innuendo and touchy feely.

The teens are mortified and have disappeared into another room, emerging occasionally to catch my eye and go "really? Yuck". DH is a bit pissed and thinks it's amusing.

She's back again today for lunch at ours, but thankfully brother won't be here, although she has now invited him to a 'do' at hers on NYs day. Teens overheard the invite and are now refusing to go.

Anyway there should be less sexual tension in the air today, I'll just have to put up with the hideous comments that she likes to spout, about our country having no identity these days with all the forriners, and how a woman's place is in the home. Women have got too big for their boots these days and the poor men don't know where they stand.

Wish me luck. At least I'm not driving so can hit the prosecco again.

Is your brother just one of those flirty people? We know someone (late 30s) who just flirts with everyone ranging from my mother (80s to my daughter 18 and everyone in between). My mother loves it and becomes quite giggly and girlish in his company (which does make me cringe) and my daughter thinks he's a bit sad. He is completely harmless and there is nothing behind it.

Ach lighten up its Christmas. When you're 80 you might find yourself super thrilled with the opportunity to flirt with a nice young man You're a long time dead op, save it for things that matter.

Anything that makes teens cringe is a score in my books.....

YABU. Lighten up. What you call flirting they just see jokes with a sexual content and have no intention of actually turning words into actions.

As for embarrassing your teens...some teens find lots of things embarrassing that grown adults don't. It's our job to show them they are making a fuss about nothing. They are probably following the cues from your tuts and eye rolling.
