she's the only person i know that uses full words and sentences on text, by the time she has typed it all out , it would have been quicker to speak on the bloody phone ! sent her a message the other day to confirm meeting up and the cheeky cow, said that she found text speak 'slovenly' and she was asking friends not to use it when texting her wtf?? aibu in giving her the elbow on our plans - was so irritated by her attitude.

Well you're on here complaining about how she texts. She complains about the way you text but actually speaks to you directly about it- instead of ranting about it to strangers on the internet. You both seems immature really.

P.s I typically don't use text speak.

I loathe text speak with a passion and never use it. I understand how it came about when texts were charged per character typed (I think they were, anyway), but that mostly no longer applies.

That said though, I never directly criticise someone who has used it in a text to me. That is just rude. I work at deciphering it, if I can be arsed (cba in text speak, I think).

Most of my friends and family prefer to type in full, so it isn't much of an issue really.

Online though, I have sometimes seen whole posts written largely in text speak, and can hardly be bothered to read them.

By the way, it is grammAr rather than grammEr, just to be pedantic. (I am often quite at home reading Pedants' Corner).
