Well the world of celebrities.

Friend thinks she's beautiful but not the most but up there what do you think?

OP posts:
pictish · 16/12/2014 19:42

She looks cross all the time.

superstarheartbreaker · 16/12/2014 19:48

I think she is stunning and has bags of character. She's quirky and fun. She's not a typical beauty.

I think Amal Amaluddin us one of the most beautiful women ever. She's in her 30s . There are so many types of beauty though. Hard to say.

Also so many older women are stunning like Helena Bonham Carter and Helen Mirren.

specialsubject · 16/12/2014 19:51

I also have failed to find ANY photos of her with a real smile, and only a couple with a fake smile. I hope her existence isn't really that miserable!

she meets fashion-industry standards of beauty. No spots, no scars, no facial lines (because she is very young), long hair which is light enough to bleach, tall, thin, non-distinctive symmetrical face. i.e. she looks like a million other girls. If she can get paid a lot for this, good luck to her.

nice to see some eyebrows though!

superstarheartbreaker · 16/12/2014 19:52

She is so not average in the looks department. That bone structure is amazing!

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 16/12/2014 20:00

I fantasise about a meteor striking the Chiltern Firehouse and taking out a swathe of slebs who irrationally piss me off. Grin

I like Gemma Atherton too.

LouiseBrooks · 16/12/2014 22:12

In terms of models, Karen Mulder was beautiful, as was Christy Turlington. Cindy Crawford was stunning but I don't think I'd really call her beautiful because to me that means looks that you would not really see on the high street. Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Lauren Bacall, Capucin, were beautiful.

I think these days people use the term "beautiful" when they mean attractive, pretty, etc. Cara suits the modern world but she isn't beautiful at all.

palmerpigweed · 16/12/2014 22:19

Nope dont care for her but I never got the hype over kate moss and think she looks like a scraggy rat.
Love kendall jenner though.

Whitershadeofpale · 16/12/2014 22:21

Not for me. My picks are Jayne Mansfield, Tippi Hedren, Debbie Harry and Zadie Smith.

WowserBowser · 16/12/2014 22:23

See - I find Kendall Jenner a bit boring looking.

I find Cara and Kate more beautiful.

But that's it isn't it. Horses for courses.

squoosh · 16/12/2014 22:26

I've always thought Audrey Hepburn's beauty was over hyped.

Nancy66 · 16/12/2014 22:29

I always thought Audrey Hepburn had a quirky prettiness but that's it. She was too anorexic looking.

TheCowThatLaughs · 16/12/2014 22:31

I think she has striking looks, but I wouldn't call her beautiful. She looks good in photos

Whitershadeofpale · 16/12/2014 22:33

I think Audrey had a grace that made her very eye catching. I think on paper she wouldn't be the most attractive but she had 'something' about her that would turn heads.

I think I wouldn't really notice Cara or Kate in a room, but I'd imagine Audrey would always draw your eye. Much like George Clooney or Benedict Cumberbatch aren't the most attractive men from an objective viewpoint but they have an aura that is captivating.

I just don't get that from Cara.

CheeseBuster · 16/12/2014 22:35

YABU, i don't get it and think she is quite masculine looking in real life still "handsome" though.

LuckyLuckyMe · 16/12/2014 22:49

Are you me ILovesooty??

I can't really get excited with appearances. I only see personalities.

if I don't know a person I don't remember what they look like til I've seen them 5 or 6 times Xmas Blush

velouria · 16/12/2014 22:50

She is pretty but if I could look like anyone it wouldn't be her, lots of women I would rather look like.

BlowTheBloodyDoorsOff · 16/12/2014 23:32

I read notsogoldenoldie's post muttering along in agreement! You're so right. Where is the GLAMOUR these days? Don't get me wrong, Cara is pretty, but like another poster said, you see girls that look like her on the high street all the time. To me she looks a bit grubby and moody.
In my personal opinion, true beauty is of the Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, Marylin, Lauren Bacall standard - and amongst current celebs I'd say Christina Hendricks, Nigella, and I think Lana del Rey has a certain old-school glamour too. Just my tuppence worth - of course everyone's ideas of beauty are different and that's lovely! Smile

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/12/2014 23:39

I think when beauty coincides with great talent, it becomes much more meaningful and memorable. Most models will fade in the memory eventually because their appearance is all they have and are famous for, whereas Grace Kelly's beauty was used in the service of being a great actress, as Gemma Arterton's is today.

Coumarin · 16/12/2014 23:53

Well this is a lovely thread isn't it...

Aibu to think cars delvingne is the most beautiful woman in the world?
mrsfuzzy · 17/12/2014 01:04

what are the eye brows about ? seriously though good luckt o her for being so sucessful but she had a hard edge look about her, althoughshe looks better when she smiles.

Bonsoir · 17/12/2014 09:17

I think Cara Delevingne is trashy-looking, like Kate Moss.

notsogoldenoldie · 17/12/2014 09:19

Thanks for agreeing, BlowSmile. I kind of "get" Cara because she conforms to the current norm but she lacks that "something" imo. Not sure quite what it is, but it's something to do with style, glamour and presentation and not just good looks. And maybe personality too. Or a certain quirkiness? Eg Helena B-C is quirky in her style but has something about her which enables her to carry it off. Similarly Audrey: she's probably not that great-looking but those pearls and style help her to create a persona that's totally her, and memorable. And for me, it's about artifice too-dyed (obviously) blonde hair, lots of (obvious) make up , clothes that enhance the figure, or make some sort of statement. It's about looking different from the norm for me, and that's why I don't really understand Cara' s supposed "beauty". She's just too normal-looking.

Bonsoir · 17/12/2014 09:28

I agree that Cara encapsulates a current norm, which is why she can work for so many brands with widespread appeal.

Neverbuyheliumbalonz · 17/12/2014 09:42

Meh, Cara Delevigne is ok.

My current 'ermagerd she is so beautiful' is Kendall Jenner. I just hope she doesn't go down the same route as her mum and sisters (including her younger sister) and start playing with knives and syringes because I just cannot imagine what she would change. I think the pressure on her, both as a catwalk model and a Jenner/Kardashian, must be immense.
