...given that the second item on the list is a £150 gold plated necklace? Surely even Russian Oligarchs don't have £150 'stocking fillers'.

There's a £215 perfume on there as well, £80 "Naked Lady Cufflinks" who would wear those to work? and a £230 camouflage wallet can't you just go down to the army surplus shop? I genuinely wonder who buys this stuff.

Before anyone asks, DSis and I bought my DM a Liberty scarf two years ago as a main present as she's always wanted one. They've spammed me ever since.

I'm having rose-scented soaps in my stocking, which I adore. And my dh is having a Norwich City football cap in green and yellow. It's hideous but it's what he wants. And we're both having choccy coins like you, Yesmudder.

Aren't all stocking fillers too much money for what they are though? To fill a stocking with anything other than sweets I bet you're all spending more that you think you are.

You count yourself lucky YesMudder. My DCs are having one bag between them as loose coins in their stockings. If there's an odd number DH will get the spare one.

Yes, stockings do tend to cost more than you think! I think I have spent about £40 on DSis... usually I do spend a strict £20 and if that means I need to get creative with breaking up stationary sets and Internet printable games, so be it.

I just can't believe there are genuinely people out there who buy that stuff for stockings... I'm beginning to wonder whether all these insanely priced items are just window dressing for a bit of attention to draw people in to buy the real things.

If I was a Russian oligarch I would totally spend £150 on a stocking present. But then I always thought stockings were the best part of Christmas. In my family we always got one big practical present from parents and the stocking was where the fun stuff went.

Sadly I'm not a Russian oligarch but I can still spend £50 on a stocking. It's dead easy to do.

When my dh arrived from Africa many moons ago, he was totally rapt about Christmas. He could hardly believe that presents would appear specially for him. I told him about Father Christmas and being very African he almost believes this to this day. We leave out food for FC and a mince pie, plus a carrot for Rudolf. He honestly buys into this. So of course, it was just lovely to see him gasp at his filled stocking that first Christmas together. Since then we always have a stocking. He's tied his up near the fireplace already. He has a wooden Advent Calendar too with little drawers for a chocolate each day. For a man who had had absolutely nothing, not even enough to eat, it's such a pleasure to see his delight.

Stealth Adults get stockings in this house! DP never had a stocking growing up, or much affection from his Mum so I love spoiling him.

TBFair we don't have DCs yet and I'm not sure if it will change when we do. Hatespiders I was 23 before I woke up to my DM placing the stocking on my bed so part of me still believed it still has a bit of magic for me.

Dh and I have been together over 20 years and have never had stockings, which suited me as it's enough hassle doing them for dcs.
Last week he came home with stockings for both of us, "why should the kids have all the fun?" he said. So now I've got three stockings to do .
