To think Take That look bloody silly

Doing a skippy little dance routine in their 40s, in tight white suits!

And the fact the just keep going on and on in dwindling numbers.

Sorry, I know everyone loves them but I've never been a fan and now it's getting laughable.

Well said "the chandler" it is an ageist attitude. Well they may be getting on but their single has just gone to number one as has there album, with a sell out tour coming up...but apparently the should "give it up" because our too cool for school mumsnetters say so!

Sallystyle · 12/12/2014 08:48

They look ridiculous.

Far too old to be acting like a boy band.

Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2014 08:51

Grin Merry. This Take That thread is looking lovely.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/12/2014 08:55

They look a bit silly but I still like them anyway.
I have tickets to see them next year, and 1D too, I love a boyband

Sallystyle · 12/12/2014 08:56

And that is not ageist.

They just look stupid.

I don't actually mind their music, the dancing and matchy matchy suits just makes them look like they are trying to cling desperately to their youth.

Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2014 08:58

1D give me the rage. Manufactured non-instrument playing/song writing 'band'.

Take That get points for at least writing their own stuff.

happyscouse · 12/12/2014 09:00

Haha a "they look ridiculous" comment from someone called U2TheEdge

But Harry is pretty

TheChandler · 12/12/2014 09:02

U2TheEdge They look ridiculous.

Far too old to be acting like a boy band.

Yawn.

Why, what happens if you dare to not be in your pipe and slippers in your forties?

Do you also think women over 40 should cut their hair into a nice bowl style and spend weekends going round garden centres with their hubbies?

Sallystyle · 12/12/2014 09:10

Meh. People slag Bono off all the time. I am used to it Grin

And no, they don't have to be in pipe and slippers but there is a middle ground.

It's ok to find them ridiculous you know, just like many think U2 are.

Sallystyle · 12/12/2014 09:13

Do you also think women over 40 should cut their hair into a nice bowl style and spend weekends going round garden centres with their hubbies?

Well of course, it stands to reason that if I think TakeThat look stupid still doing the same stuff they did when they were younger than I must think 40 year old women should have bowl haircuts and visit garden centres Hmm

I must tell my mum to stop her active social life and go to garden centres instead.

Lindy2 · 12/12/2014 09:13

I agree the suits are a little dodgy but I like the song and the dancing is fine. it's not like they are cartwheeling around the stage.
Lots of singers and bands continue well past their 40s, 50s + and quite rightly too. Some of the best music is from older mire experienced groups. If we only had music from those in their teens and 20s that would be really dull.

Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2014 09:21

Shock horror bands do get older. It's 32 years since Rio but I think they still have it. Some will say they looked ridiculous for the whole time. Grin

To think Take That look bloody silly
Housesoftheglitterybaubles · 12/12/2014 10:27

I actually think Take That have got better with age. Their music is certainly better. I didn't like them the first time round

bottleofbeer · 12/12/2014 10:29

I'm not a huge fan, certainly wasn't first time round but I went to see their last two tours (and ended up in the bloody paper, shame of it) and it was good fun.

TheYuletideMovement · 12/12/2014 10:36

One Direction do actually write a lot of stuff and wrote most of the songs on their new album themselves.

Bluetone · 12/12/2014 10:37

I like them, I enjoyed their performance on the X Factor the other week. They looked like they were enjoying themselves and I think their new song is catchy I bought it

So there Grin

SignoraStronza · 12/12/2014 10:46

Crikey, they've been going since my first year at secondary school. Always thought they were manufactured site - and that's before I got into proper music by real musicians \M/ Grin

As for One Dimension.... The ex bought dd1 a cd purely to torture me I think. Thankfully she's not majorly keen.

SignoraStronza · 12/12/2014 10:47

SHITE! Manufactured shite. Clearly my autocorrect disagrees with me.

TheChandler · 12/12/2014 11:36

But I cannot for the life of me see why adult pop performers are more objectionable than children and teenagers - I don't want my pop music provided solely by children, and I hate this forced attitude by the industry of always looking for the next big thing and exploiting gullible children and teenagers and then spitting them out. Surely we should be applauding longevity, even if they started out as a manufactured band?

I think we seriously have to question our perspective when we try and make out there is something wrong with adult males performing on stage.

redpickle · 12/12/2014 11:49

Nothing wrong with adult males performing on stage - it was the dance routine and matching suits, which yes I do find ridiculous on all 'boy' bands, just looked even more ridiculous on them.

As I said not a fan, first time round or even second time round but they did seem to have more integrity and gravitas second time round...until now!

STOP - all of you, I wont hear it! I think they ALL look hot, even Howard...

HellKitty · 12/12/2014 11:52

I went out on a date with a guy who was almost perfect. Tall, dark, ex pro martial art expert...but he talked like Gary Barlow.
"Would. You. Like. Chilli. Sauce. On. Your. Kebab. ?." Kind of thing...

I reckon the little one will leave next.

Theorientcalf · 12/12/2014 11:59

I love Take That, loved them first time round and I'm going to see them on tour next year. I'm so excited! I'm in my 30s, who cares?

Theorientcalf · 12/12/2014 12:00

Oh and OD just look like they hate their life.
