In fact the woman at our local clinic discouraged me from having the depo again for this reason.

It has taken me 15 months to lose 3 stone 9 in my early 40s. I have only been on Mini Pill for 3 months.

At 29 i could lose a stone a month. Age comes into it too.

maddening · 11/12/2014 21:42

Thanks darkesteys Flowers sorry for being touchy :)

Darkesteyes · 11/12/2014 21:55

Thats ok No probs Its been more of a struggle to lose weight second time around than it was the first. I know what its like Its a hard slog.

I found an article online about the medical profession expecting women in their 40s and 50s to take both the Mini Pill and HRT. I have noticed in my slimming world group that this is the age group that is struggling the most so i was wondering about the correlation.

Younger women (20s early 30s) and those past the menopause (60 +) seem to be the age group that are finding it easier to lose weight.

I did weight myself finally. 13st 7.

Right off to morrisons for salad! Grin

I've had this from my whole family since I was child, as a result, I have a dependent relationship with food, if I'm depressed, I eat crap, Bored, eat crap, people making shitty comments about my weight, crap. I put on 4 stone in pregnancy and an extra 2 in the throes of depression while my ex fucked off, at 31, its taking a long, long time to control the dependency.

MaitlandGirl · 12/12/2014 09:23

My dad (bless him!!) greeted me straight off a flight to visit us in Australia with "Christ girl you've put on some weight!"

Was a lovely greeting considering I hadn't seen him in over 2 years!!!

I think some people just aren't tactful and although they don't mean to be hurtful it comes across that way.

MikeTheShite · 12/12/2014 09:32

Well today it's time to change!

I think GC is fab anyway. Very tallented dress designer

Chandon · 12/12/2014 09:50

Bad luck to have a mum criticises your weight. Don't cancel party rsvp's!
Parties are fun.

My mum tells me I am skinny, and trues to feed me up. I wear size 12-14, LOL. Naughty mums

Sazzle41 · 12/12/2014 17:23

I feel for you, i went from a 10 to a 16. Sorry to those who insist 16 is fine but i could only do one flight of stairs before getting tired and i felt bloated & my double chin & fat cheeks added 10 years onto my appearance. I am very tall, feel happiest at a 12 but accept that with middle age 12/14 with a slight muffin top isnt bad and a bit more exercise will get me to a 12 if i can get my bum into gear.

Its what weight you feel happy at or healthy at. I would say GC is a size 18 looking at her ( tho very pretty) and she does look big next to the other girls on the programme. She used to be a 10 and is always dieting: her increase was down to comfort eating after a bad break up.

BTW I am on effexor anti d which doesnt effect my weight, ask your GP re other medication. Eat proper meals, dont snack or graze all day , exercise and it will drop off, trust me. Good luck.

GilbertBlytheWouldGiftIt · 12/12/2014 17:28

Wow, what excellent advice there. Geez, never thought of not snacking.

Gosh.

Better go tell my silly old body that it's WRONG to get fat on eating salad leaves and soup. Fancy me being so stupid as to let medication drastically alter my metabolism.

ThePinkOcelot · 12/12/2014 18:43

Well if your own mother can't tell you, who can? Really, hand on heart are you happy being fat?

tobysmum77 · 12/12/2014 21:26

I had no idea who gemma Collins is. So I googled, can think of worse people to be compared to but I'd go easy on the black eyeliner Wink

MikeTheShite · 13/12/2014 10:57

Thank you everyone

everyone IS indeed different, but repeated yo-yo'ing weight can really stuff up your body.

There is no proof that the pill adds weight. We all slow down as we get older and (assuming no other health issues) we'll pork up if we don't eat properly and move more.

since when did the 'medical profession expect women to take both the mini pill and HRT'? Why would you take the pill if you are past the menopause? And this isn't a dictatorship, no-one has to take any medication.
