I'm sure there's somewhere more suited to post this but thought I would get plenty of responses here .
We are getting a female working cocker spaniel in January and really struggling with names.
She is black with a white flash on her chest.
Any suggestions?

Yabu. Anything. It's a dog! One syllable preferably.

Flash.

Doghouse is board you want Xmas Wink

I quite like human names for dogs, but then depends if you like cutesy ones or classy ones.

So randomly...

Janet?(getting her in January)

Dibley?(might look like a vicar with her white dog collar bit?)

Shadow?

Danielle (the spaniel?)

Flash, silver, cock (joking thinking cocker spaniel), dog (again joking), bold (after cub in animals of farthing wood)....realises im rubbish at naming dogs. What does your dc think? Agree needs to be short. Always think sam or ben are good dog names but they are for males...

londonrach · 08/12/2014 19:25

Photo would help with the naming...mumsnet hows that for a name? Again joking

Dc isn't speaking yet so can't ask her.
My cousin has a pup called Luna, she seems to be able to say that (dc) so something short for ease etc.
I've posted in doghouse board as well now Xmas Grin
Quiet like nala but not sure.
Mum thinks pheobe but think it's just too human. Like the name though!

Anything that couldn't also be a persons name is a good pet name rule IMO.

CormoranStrike · 08/12/2014 19:58

I love real names for pets, but I am better at boy names.

Betty?

SaucyJack · 08/12/2014 19:59

Jo (cocker)

We follow themes with our animals. When I was in my teens, all my horses were given musical names. My cats have always had operatic names, but DH's always had Greek myth characters so we have to alternate now ;)
My sheep mostly have floral names but depends what letter the breed society have for that year's lambs - it's quite difficult to think of them sometimes!

As yours is a working dog, how about some sort of bird as a name? Widgeon? Teal? Coot? Mallard? Grouse?
