I worry that China and Russia and Iran and Pakistan will unite and world war three will happen. It was a show on telly and it showed an invasion. I had a nightmare about it last night and was thinking what would life be like under Russian Chinese rule in this country?

There are always wars going on. Don't worry. It's easy to get headlines out of perspective. Remember in the eighties? I was only a teen but I was terrified of nuclear war and AIDS, but so far so good!

I know I remember the adverts of aids used to terrify me. And the ussr we actually grew up scared. Smile

I'm one to talk because I'm currently on a news ban due to anxiety but there was an absolutely fantastic programme on radio 2 yesterday about how manipulative the media is - give it a listen...it has really helped me. X

There are so many things to worry about; so little we actually have any power over. What's that AA prayer?

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Words to live by.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/12/2014 21:26

Atheist here BTW but still, words to live by!

I remember being terrified by Threads, which I watched when I was about 12ish. And when I was older I had a copy of When the Wind Blows, which was scary in a poignant way rather than a graphic way. These days, I try to take life as it comes and enjoy the moment.

If you are of an anxious disposition, it is natural that the things you can't control might cause you most anxiety. Some people are able to train themselves to focus on the things they can control. Others need the help and support of others in order to learn to do this.
