Can't decide if this is a reasonable worry or not. I have 3 teenagers (13-17). Next week my husband flies back from a business trip while I fly out on one. there is a 3 hour gap (during school hours) when we are both in the air. But for those 3 hours, we cannot be contacted so if there was an emergency or anything, we aren't around. We have no relatives close by - the closest is a 4 hour drive away. I can ask a friend if I can give her name/number to the school just in case. Am I overthinking this? Would you worry about an accident in school etc.

I would marginally worry, in those circumstances. I think i'd let my friend know the situation and tell the kids (I have teens too) who to call if they need anything. just seems sensible to me!

I'd ask friend if it was okay to have her as secondary contact for school.

I would worry about something like that. Is it possible to change your flight? I suppose the chances of something happening in those three hours are minuscule though.

I already changed my flights so I could drop them to school (dh messed up on the scheduling). I really do need to get to my meeting on this flight - any later and it will be too late. They rarely get sick. If they feel sick the morning of the trip, I'll change my flight/cancel.

the friend I am going to ask has children in both schools so knows the admin there. I think I'm going to just have to take a deep breath.

And check dh's flight is running on time before checking in for yours? Can he call you to confirm he hasn't missed it? (Assuming international flights - less worried if domestic, as always some way home).

It's natural to 'think' about it, curse a bit & phone a friend to ask if you can them her contact details...but that's all. Beyond that, at their ages it's paranoia. Give it up, it's bad for your worry lines :) x. They'll be fine!

Have a friend responsible for informing anyone who might need to know where you both are, but otherwise don't worry and just get on with it.

Friend is ready to step up and authorise surgery/bail payments in unlikely event.

Kids have been told not to break any limbs between 10-1 on the day

Grandparents and uncles living 3 hours away have been put on alert
