My lovely sister has posted pictures of her house gorgeously decorated for Christmas. AIBU? I can't even begin to think of doing that until at least sometime in.....i don't know......December perhaps!!

Our will be going up next weekend because that is our only available weekend.

I love christmas but it doesn't feel christmassy. Think it is the weather. It isnt cold enough & I live in the north of scotland where we think 10c is scorching Grin

November is too early in my opinion. I personally wait until mid December, if not when schools break up. The it comes down 12th night or the weekend before school starts just to get back to normal. I love when it's up though, sitting there with the lights twinkling.

It's a slippery slope though as I know if I got into the Xmas spirit that early I'd start on the Xmas food too.

Did mine today - love it. but no tree yet as we have a real one and I don't want it dead by the 25th!

Iggly · 29/11/2014 21:08

We wait until dd's birthday is gone before putting up the tree. DH has suggested we wait until mid December before putting up the tree. I did Hmm at him but will be putting up the decorations next weekend then tree the week after. I loved decorating it with the DCs last year.

WorraLiberty · 29/11/2014 21:19

We got ours up today

My front windows (upstairs and down) are now visible from the moon Grin

MidniteScribbler · 29/11/2014 21:24

I'm doing mine today. I usually start about two weeks ago doing the bedrooms (each bedroom has its own tree), then work my way out to the other areas of the house. December 1 we have a bit of an evening where the lights all get switched on. But Due to some renovations I haven't done it this year, so going to be trying to do it all today before Tomorrow night.

Bedsheets4knickers · 29/11/2014 23:09

Always goes up on my birthday 14th dec and comes down 31st. Can't stand starting new year with a shabby tree

OneSkinnyChip · 30/11/2014 13:45

I have just switched the lights on on ours. It feels a bit fraudulent having it up this early but think it will be ok after tomorrow.

Can someone explain "It's a class thing" as I genuinely don't know what this means Confused

TIA.

WUME · 30/11/2014 15:17

PP means the working decorate early and the middle class wait.

WUME · 30/11/2014 15:17

*working class

tilliebob · 30/11/2014 15:24

I guess it doesn't hurt anyone. Personally although I've been listening to Christmas music since October there'll be no tree up here until mid Dec at the earliest. I'd go nuts if I bought a tree now and would have it back out the door by mid Dec!

NoSundayWorkingPlease · 30/11/2014 16:00

Ours go up on the nearest weekend to 1st Dec. We've done them today :)

NotEnoughTime · 30/11/2014 16:56

Thank you WUME-I've never heard of that before.

OneSkinnyChip · 30/11/2014 18:43

The class thing - I don't buy it. We were solidly working class growing up and never got decorations up until mid December much to our disgust Grin

bigbluestars · 30/11/2014 19:03

I agree about the class thing.

Pangurban · 30/11/2014 19:08

Well, it's 1st Dec. tomorrow. We've put some led lights outside on a bush. We've come from friends who've just got their tree. I'm going to get some value out of the decorations and put them up tomorrow. Need to get cinnamon and start the advent calendar.

Pangurban · 30/11/2014 19:09

My mother used to put the decorations and tree up on the 20th or 21st December.

Ohmygrood · 02/12/2014 08:47

I take it your decorations aren't up yet then simba.

Whatsthewhatsthebody · 02/12/2014 09:05

My working class parents wouldn't dream if putting up their decorations until December.

Ours are up now.

Class is all about giving a flying fuck what others think.

Thankfully me dh and our kids don't give a crap. That's true class. Grin
