Probably not the best idea for your neighbours, if they already have yappy dog don't think they also want shouting neighbour
But knock on the door and tell them

My neighbour once shouted " Shut that Fucking dog up" in the same situation, he was the only one to have the balls to do what we all wanted to do

It worked, dog was taken in straight away, but because of the way the gardens sit (and it was dark) the dog owner had no idea who shouted!

Your version is probably a bit more polite!

I did this one morning

Dog had woke me up on a saturday at 7:30 and I had a hellish head at 11 it was still barking when I went to peg out the clothes (and head was about to explode at that point)....ended up yelling something containing the words - shut that f'ing dog up......two and a half f'ing hours now.....(we have no small children near us luckily). Result was peace until 3pm - and no, I didn't feel bad at all, and the neighbours thanked me (disclaimer - I never normally use that kind of language but I was well past my limit)

lol its weird how different noises affect different people.
dogs dont bother me at all or loud music but stomping and walking in heels boils my blood!

anyway if you can remain annoymous like they dont know the direction then do it or maybe post a note through their door? be polite as possible though maybe even humorous

sometimes when you talk to people it goes 50/50 well or sour
in my case it went sour so im off the idea of talking to anyone again face to face

I get on very well with my neighbour and have spoken to him politely on many occasions.
i just dont understand people letting their dogs bark on and on at any hour of the day, but especially not at night when most folk are in bed.
i would not let my children carry on in the garden at 11 pm at that volume

I have my own dogs and this would drive me mad!

This would do my head in. How can your neighbour not realise how selfish this is? Why would anyone want a constantly yapping animal in their home? And if they do they shouldn't inflict it on other people. Definitely go for the shut it up option - no ruder than letting a four legged irritant disturb the peace. I reckon anyone in the near vicinity will thank you.

A well-timed shout of "SHUT UP YOU STUPID DOG!!!!" works a treat - at least it does with my neighbours!

My problem is I can the dog barking in the garden and then in the house it barks at the slightest thing all fucking day! Yap yap yap. Why do people thinks it is acceptable to let this happen.

I leaned out the bathroom window once and channeled my best fishwife to shout "SHUT THAT BLOODY ANIMAL UP!" at the house who backs on to us. They'd had some small yappy dog that they would just throw out for hours. Drove my neighbour and I batty (which was ironic as neighbour has a JRT that barks from the minute she leaves the house until the minute she gets home).

A few days of shouting at it seemed to do the trick

Our neighbours over the back fence have some giant dog that barks whenever I go down to feed the chooks and bashes against the fence (I have responsibility for the damn fence) to the point where the panel has come loose. I have given up all pretence of civility as stupid dog is out 24/7 and has a nice tire hung from a tree on a piece of rope that it hangs onto with its teeth while growling like a loon when it's not barking at me or breaking my fence. I just hurl abuse at it while secretly praying it makes it into my garden so I can call the dog warden.

Neighbour's dog did break its way into my garden once and cornered my cat in the bushes. A well- timed swipe on the nose from the cat's paw sent it yelping and running away again!
