To think that if you have your tree up already, surely you'd be sick of the sight of it by christmas?

I have just seen on FB the first christmas tree picture of the year. It's the 26th Nov. A whole month until christmas.

Don't people feel sick of the sight of it by the time christmas rolls round? Does it not dilute the magic somewhat to have it up so early?

I've seen a few trees up on my fb too.
Same every year. They can't wait and go on about how wonderful it is.
The tree is down before Dec 28th because they're sick of it.

There's a huge Xmas tree in the window of one of the flats in our road. Looks nice but there's no way I could do that this early!

Our house is messy tiny so we don't have enough space to put it up, we generally put it up as soon as the Xmas holidays begin, which is really lovely.

Not that I'm much of a traditionist, but I always understood that the twelve days of Christmas started on Christmas Day. The decorations went up to Christmas Day, and came down on Twelfth Night.

If you put them up three or four weeks before Christmas, of course you will be sick of them by Christmas Day.

As far as shops are concerned, they seem to put them up ever earlier, and take them down ever earlier. Many shops now strip everything out on Christmas Eve, ready for the Boxing Day sales.

Mine goes up Sat nearest the 12th and down 2nd Jan - not keen on them being up too early

I'll probably take my tree down mid January (maybe). My son likes his tiny tree so much that he's had it up in his room for the last two years and we just alternate what we put on it, depending on the season.

I'm having to hold myself back from putting all the Christmas deccies up at the moment. Usually I would wait until mid-decemeber for decorating but I just moved into a new house and this will be our first year with a tree (artificial) and I'm just so excited to see it all looking sparkly and pretty!

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 27/11/2014 13:54

i guess if they were going to feel like that op, they wouldnt do it?

PicaK · 27/11/2014 14:01

Well - I think of my decorations as winter ones not Christmas related (atheist). So I can put them up to enjoy when I want! And I want to enjoy them this weekend.

Bakeoffcakes · 27/11/2014 14:05

Ours gors up in the middle of Dec.

However I think people should do what they like. If they want a bit of lights and sparkle for weeks on end, then so be it. It's not doing anyone any harm is it?

daisychain01 · 27/11/2014 15:02

I can't wait to put up our tree this weekend - new one this year, DSS with us and we'll be putting on a new CD of Chrimble music and drinking loadsa Wine

Thankfully I'm not on Fakebook, because I'd be more bored of the boast-fest on there about who thinks they have the biggest/poshest/most glittery etc etc tree. Yawn, does it really matter? It is just a tree.

Trees up this early give me the rage. I drive past shouting "IT'S NOVEMBER" with the windows wound firmly up .

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 27/11/2014 16:35

Well our outside lights are up, and so are all the neighbours'...but to be fair everyone does it early coz it gets so frigging cold in December. Ladders + snow and ice are a bad mix (not in the UK)

we have a new big pre lit tree. It, and all the rest of the indoor decs are going up this weekend. I'm itching to get going on it...

I'm a sucker for a fairy light....but only at Christmas.
