To think that if you have your tree up already, surely you'd be sick of the sight of it by christmas?

I have just seen on FB the first christmas tree picture of the year. It's the 26th Nov. A whole month until christmas.

Don't people feel sick of the sight of it by the time christmas rolls round? Does it not dilute the magic somewhat to have it up so early?

Sparkling with you on that one. I am poised with the black bag to put all the wrapping paper in.

It's much easier the older they get as they just want cash and a few littie things. Grin

Thebodynowchillingsothere · 27/11/2014 08:48

I have winter lights too all around the house. Go up and down with the clock changes.

applemac · 27/11/2014 08:50

YANBU. It doesn't even feel like Christmas to me yet. I will not be putting ours up until about the 15th December.

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2014 08:53

Oh yes Thebody, I have to have the wrapping paper into the black bag as it comes off the presents. Blush Grin Then straight out to the wheelie bins.

One year I had to hoover after the present opening due to polystyrene package crumbling issues. DH was all 'WTF are you doing?' Sad

On my way home this morning I saw6 houses with full decorations inside and out already! Even I draw the line at November and I love Christmas.
Our decs go up on the first and come down on New Years Day, it's a bit of a tradition I started. I get up early on January 1st and get everything back to normal - usually before everyone else is up then we have a big breakfast and a walk.

ClawHandsIfYouBelieveInFreaks · 27/11/2014 10:13

Purple we got our Christmas duvet covers from B&M bargains! They're only 7.99 which for a seasonal duvet is all I'm prepared t pay......I know you can get really nice ones for more money but these were actually quite sweet.

Red woodland scenes with animals putting up their stockings! They had nice blue ones with snowmen on too.

ClawHandsIfYouBelieveInFreaks · 27/11/2014 10:14

We've recently moved into a flat and because it's small I am going all out with decos this year! Lights in the window...all a bit tacky...the DC are so excited as usually I'm more of a "Let's leave the tinsel and have this nice Scandinavian bald tree instead" Grin

HighwayDragon · 27/11/2014 10:29

Ours is going up Monday Grin

RedToothBrush · 27/11/2014 10:37

Honestly, I think it should be not before 1st Dec, but do I think I would get fed up if it was up 5 days earlier and within a month of Christmas? No I wouldn't and think its fair enough.

DH asked me this morning if he could wear his Christmas jumper to work today. I said he would be wise to wait until next week because of all the Scrooges.

He had a fat lip as his walked out the door. He's 32. I love him dearly for it.

And no a decent tree will not drop sooner. (Note to all the people buying late who always say this; by the time you buy your tree all the good ones have gone and yours was cut at the same time and not cared for).

Fallingovercliffs · 27/11/2014 10:52

YANBU. I saw a house all decorated for Christmas almost three weeks ago! I couldn't believe it.
I actually think it takes a lot of the excitement away from Christmas when people start all the celebrations, decorations, etc weeks and weeks before the actual day. By the time Dec 25th comes you're just Christmassed out. I've been deliberately avoiding it all this year and have been determined to have a nice, quiet November with barely a thought of Christmas.

marne2 · 27/11/2014 10:58

Mine will be going up on Sunday, I don't get fed up of it until Boxing Day, I often take it down a few days after the big day.

TeenAndTween · 27/11/2014 11:48

Our outside coloured lights are up (coincide with town lights switch on), but our Christmas tree and decorations don't go up until the last day of term. I can't cope with homework and Christmas simultaneously. Tree down twelfth night or day before school starts, whichever is earlier.

Bramshott · 27/11/2014 11:50

I'm sure they are. That's why some people take them down on Boxing Day Shock!

Starlightbright1 · 27/11/2014 12:15

Most people I know are doing it this weekend. We are doing ours next week end. as visiting Santa that weekend

spamanderson · 27/11/2014 12:18

I am not ashamed to admit my tree has been up for a few days and yes I posted a picture of it on Facebook because it looks lovely. It looks almost as nice in the picture as it does in person too, plus I'm really chuffed with my new tree this year, it's MASSIVE and I have some major Scrooges on my friends list so it's fun to wind them up

CaptainAnkles · 27/11/2014 12:19

I'm putting mine up on the first weekend of December and I don't even care if it's wrong, so nyer.

YANBU by the way, now is a bit too early.

spamanderson · 27/11/2014 12:20

Oh forgot to add that to me, Christmas is over on the 27th December so the tree comes down then or the 28th. Not because I'm sick of it but once Christmas is done, the tree doesn't need to be there anyway.

HighwayDragon · 27/11/2014 12:21

Ours will come down on the 27th, tomake room for the presents

TheLovelyBoots · 27/11/2014 12:26

It's way too early. My neighbors were putting theirs up last night, I was rather surprised to see it in November! Why not October? Good grief.

RoganJosh · 27/11/2014 12:29

The non drop ones last a good month or so. We've had ours right next to the radiator from 4th dec till the beginning of jan and it's been fine. They are more expensive though.

nic013 · 27/11/2014 12:52

I've a cool artificial one and I love it. I'm looking at it right now and admiring its shiny awesomeness.

weechops · 27/11/2014 12:54

We usually put ours up the 2nd weekend in December, but this year the tree has gone up early. Reason being, dh always does the tree with the dc but he's away with work now until just before Christmas, and didn't want to miss out. Wouldn't post a pic on fb though! Im sure no one else really cares.

IAmAPaleontologist · 27/11/2014 13:03

There were a few pictures of trees on a local FB group in October.

Yesterday I noticed a house with several million lights outside plus a MASSIVE light up Father Christmas who almost reached the upstairs windows. Never mind it is still November jsut think of their electricity bill if they are keeping those up until after Christmas!

Ours goes up the weekend before Christmas at the absolute earliest. Personally I love a good Christmas Eve tree session but obviously depends on if we are going anywhere or staying at home and stuff. Dd's birthday is 23rd December so she gets to choose if it goes up before or after her birthday :)

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 27/11/2014 13:07

Well I can't wait for Monday 1st December!!!

The Christmas mugs will be out, the usual Christmas songs on the radio and the tree will go up when the kids get in from school. I can't wait!

(Ponders the idea of a Christmas duvet...)
