I wont really but I just want an excuse to rant.

Work in an office and there is some pretty serious stuff going on at the moment and so there are some 'important' types floating about. They are using spare desks as and when possible/necessary so its quite usual at the moment to come in, in the morning and find someone has used my desk the day before (im part time) and left bits and bobs lying around. Im fine with that though, no bother. The girl who sits opposite me is working on this serious stuff so has a lot of visitors through the day.

Anyway, I just went to get a cup of tea and when I came back there was a bag on my desk. No-one around so didn't know who it belonged to so I just moved it onto the floor next to my desk. Next think I know this self 'important' looking bloke strolls in, picks the bag up, puts it back on my desk, fishes around in it, tells the girl opposite that he will 'meet her at the meeting' and walks out, leaving it on my desk again.

How f*cking rude. No, 'sorry do you mind if I leave this here' or anything. I hate it when people think they are mega important. I don’t know who he is and I don’t care. Yes they are working on pretty important stuff and he may be someone very senior but why do people think that excuses them from general courtesy?

Any ideas on what to do with this bag are welcome. Its currently back on the floor next to my desk.

Are you bagman Enjorasdream?

LouMum14 · 25/11/2014 18:17

This thread is hilarious! I've also been waiting for an Enjorasdream type to rock up and piss all over the shits and giggles. Grin

grumpyoldgitagain · 25/11/2014 18:19

Are you the woman sat at the opposite desk Enjorasdream that important man kept talking to

Coumarin · 25/11/2014 18:24

Grin I take it you've never read any chick lit? This is exactly how they start off.

I'm imagining Rude Bag Man to be suited and booted, handsome but slightly ruffled looking. Maybe a light shadow on his chin suggesting he didn't have time to shave this morning. He slept in? Why isn't he sleeping well? All will be revealed...

BitOut

breathes Grin you're right! Amazing how it still annoys me.

Bulbasaur · 25/11/2014 18:29

Next time he does it, lean over to peer in "Ooh! What's in there? Anything interesting?". Grin

Do you work for an organisation beginning with 'S' BauerTime?

emotionsecho · 25/11/2014 18:46

Reminds me of something similar that happened to my dh at work once.

Dh working away and into the room comes a man carrying some stuff that needed to be returned to a specific area within the room and proceeds to place the stuff on dh's desk. Conversation went as follows, dh is never backward in coming forward

Dh "Did you find that there?"

Man "Um no, but"

Dh "Well put the bugger back where you got it from then"

Suitably chastised man went off to put the items back, meanwhile behind dh his colleagues are doing the "oh shit" face.

After man left the room dh was informed that he was the new top man, dh was unrepentant though.

FreeWee · 25/11/2014 19:05

emotionsecho great story! I sometimes wonder whether top people like other people to not know who they are once in a while so they get the 'real' reaction rather than the yes-sir one most of us do when trying not to piss our boss's boss's boss off.

Marking place for update on chick lit Mr Bossy Bag.

emotionsecho · 25/11/2014 19:16

Thanks FreeWee, most bosses of my dh got the 'real' reaction even if he knew who they were, I could relate several instances but fear I would out myself/him! Funnily enough he was a highly respected and well thought of employee so maybe there is a lesson in there somewhere.

BauerTime · 25/11/2014 19:26

control no it doesn't begin with S.

Enjoras no not the crime of the century but no-one is too busy to not realise they have put their bag on someone's desk whilst they are actually trying to work on it. Or busy enough to not realise that it might be in the way. It's just rude, especially as I'd already moved it once and I, you know, was actually sitting there working the second time shortly before I switched to MN Wink

I'm also loving that my character is called Louella in the book

KatoPotato · 25/11/2014 19:33

Hope it wasn't a one strap 'ergo bag' complete with phone pocket. No romantic lead can wear one of those...

DidoTheDodo · 25/11/2014 19:34

"Fish??" exclaimed Louella. "Has anyone GOT any fish?" At that moment the office doorbell rang loudly, making Louella jump. Ms Bosslady's door opened and she swanned out into the open plan room. "Get the door please Jo" she commanded. Jo pulled a face at Louella and went to open the door. "Mornin' ladies" carolled the cheery chap at the door. "Hurrah" said Jo. "It's the sandwich man. One tuna and sweet corn and one prawn salad please" she requested....

It's a health and safety hazard as could cause someone to trip if it's left on the floor. I would say it should be removed for the safety of yourself and other colleagues ;) lost property or designated coat rack or what not so he has to search for it.
Or if you're allowed to drink or eat at your desk, your lunch (preferably something smelly like tuna) could so easily fall off the desk and land over all his 'important' stuff.
