To think someone should win pass the parcel!

Went to a party yesterday and every child won a prize at pass the parcel! The parcel was too heavy for any of the children to lift when the game started and it just went on and on until all 20 children had got something. Many wandered off bored and it was frankly very dull! With 20 identical prizes and no overall winner it all felt a bit pointless!

At a party recently for 3 year olds there were 20 children, music stopped on every child so they all got sweets. In between each sweet layer they had duff layers with no sweets and then at the end of the game everyone got an extra prize which was a mr men book except my DC because "you didn't sit still and join in with everyone else" for the excruciatingly long and dull game of pass the parcel! They are 3 FFS and needless to say we will not be going to any of their parties again!

Bettercallsaul1, yes this is a thread that doesn't make my brain hurt! Grin There should always be a bag of Haribo between each layer and a prize at the end. Smile

I'm a mean party mum. I don't put something between each layer. Tis how it was done when I was a child!

At my cousins ds' party my auntie (not the child's grandma) always makes sure the birthday boy wins the main prize Hmm
He magically won musical statues too because he 'wobbled and didn't mean to move' (like all the other children then!) And then she got a cob on with my ds when he realised half way through the party ththat he had no chance of winning and decided not to join in any more games.

Chandon, yes to the cake thing. Wrapped and taken away in a napkin? What is this strange custom, ha?!

We do it with wedding too

I thought licking the icing off a bit of napkin was all part of the party fun!

I did an amazing pass the parcel - it was large but not too heavy - however the gifts were different all the way through - some really good ones dotted through and the best was last - ds' bday is end of jan so picked up loads of bargains in the sale - the kids were interested all the way through and less despondency from those already having had the parcel as no one knew what was next and they were keen to see each layer opened.
