To expect this woman to help me?

Today I was shopping in a large department store. I was trying to find a t-shirt for DD in a particular style but I was having trouble finding the one that I wanted. So when I saw a woman heading in my direction who was dressed in this stores uniform I thought I'd ask her. This woman was actually wearing a cap and an apron but I knew she worked there as like I said she had the rest of the uniform on so I assumed she would be able to help me.

But when I asked her (nicely) if she could help me find the thing I wanted and I explain (again nicely) what I was looking for, she told me that she worked in the cafe and not the shop floor and I would be better off asking one of the shop floor staff. I was quite confused by this as she obviously worked there so why wouldn't she know where things were?

I again asked her nicely and told her that even if she did work in the cafe (which I had already figured out before I spoke to her by the apron and cap) she should still be able to help me and know where things are but again she told me she didn't work on the shop floor therefore didn't know it.

AIBU to expect her to help me? She still works there.

Why did do that OP?
Why?

AttackOfTheKillerHamsters · 21/11/2014 20:39

You deserved any bollocking you got purely for this being a reverse!!!

Concordial · 21/11/2014 20:40

Why not just put the truthful story in the OP in the first place?

Bartlebee · 21/11/2014 20:40

I hate reverse threads.

Perfectlypurple · 21/11/2014 20:40

Yabu for yet another reverse. I really don't see the point.

AttackOfTheKillerHamsters · 21/11/2014 20:40

Sorry that was meant to be a quote from Lady's post.

carlsonrichards · 21/11/2014 20:41

'Why wouldn't they be trained to know what is on the shop floor? They work there!'

I worked as a bookkeeper in a large-ish financial company. Should I have known where the legal files were kept, too, on a different floor in an entirely different part of the building? Had someone asked, I would transfer them to the legal department.

Gawd, this is why I never lasted long in a retail - the world is full of thick, entitled, clueless people.

HairyPotter · 21/11/2014 20:41

Reverse threads are a pain in the arse!

Especially two in one night.

AttackOfTheKillerHamsters · 21/11/2014 20:42

Reverse threads are boring.

YY to that woman being odd though. I have no idea why she kept insisting that you be the one to help her and not anyone else.

carlsonrichards · 21/11/2014 20:43

Reverse posters should be banned.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 21/11/2014 20:46

She found you a member of staff who could help you but you are unhappy that she doesn't know everything about the business, specifically in an area outside of her arena of work- are you crackers?

Reverses are really really annoying.

Fairenuff · 21/11/2014 20:47

Agreed carlson

GoodKingQuintless · 21/11/2014 20:48

Disrespectful time wasters. You op are in a long line of time wasters.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 21/11/2014 20:49

And yabu for the reverse so the universe is even now eh?

Perfectlypurple · 21/11/2014 20:49

The trouble with reverses is that after the big reveal there are still loads of posters who do not RTFT and don't even read the last few posts so post in answer to original op.

Fairenuff · 21/11/2014 20:51

And this one is either a cowardly name change or a new member just stirring trouble Hmm

ArthurShappey · 21/11/2014 20:53

Of course this was a reverse.

OP I often have similar problems. I work in a hospital and get all kinds of 'where is?' questions... Often they'll hand me their appointment letters and say 'where am I supposed to go?'. Thank goodness for our lovely volunteers. I always walk them to the volunteer's stations (dotted around the hospital) because I really don't know all the departments myself.

Why did she complain about you? Did you find someone who could help her, or just leave her to it?

UncrushedParsley · 21/11/2014 20:53

Is it just me who finds reverse AIBU's annoying and a bit manipulative?

CrapBag · 21/11/2014 20:55

Posters are very rude. Get off your high fucking horses.

OK we get you don't like reverse threads so off you go. Why waste time posting.

Personally I dont have a problem and suspect they are started because an OP is worried she may get a pasting, being AIBU and all and many people love the chance to stick the boot in on here. This thread is very unpleasant.

MagnetsOnItsTail · 21/11/2014 20:57

I'm annoyed by reverses, but why was the OP only wearing a cap and apron? I know companies are cutting back on clothing budgets, but surely a full uniform would be more appropriate?

ilovesooty · 21/11/2014 20:57

Why the fuck would you choose to do a reverse AIBU? It's just tedious.

Fairenuff · 21/11/2014 20:57

I just don't like being lied to crap

Maybe you're ok with it but it pisses me off Angry
