I often read dh as dickhead rather than darling husband.

But then this is AIBU.

Don't use them. I generally write in full because I don't like them.

YABU because now someone will come along and feel obliged to point out that the traditional definition of 'acronym' means a word created by the initials of a phrase rather than just an abbreviation...

I don't mind them, what I do mind is them being called acronyms because they are not.

ASDA is an acronym, BASIC is an acronym, dd, dh, gf etc are not. It has to form a word to be an acronym
