to sneak money into the food bank?

I was planning on giving some treats to the food bank. Where I work have chocolate oranges for a pound and cheap Advent calendars and selection boxes and things. I get a discount so I can make someone's Christmas slightly better without much cost to me.

I also wanted to give those trifle mixes but you need fresh milk for them. Would it be a bit off to tape 50 inside each box with a note that it is for milk?

Would it be patronising/condescending? (sorry. I never know which is the right word. )

Could you not give UHT milk? I'm sure you can make those things with UHT milk as well, and then people will just have it right there and they can use it in whichever way they need to, be it with trifle or something else. Consider that they may be people who struggle to go out to the shops for whatever reason.

To be honest most foodbanks are pretty strict about what they give out - and as trifle isn't on their standard list it would most likely be placed on the 'help yourself' area, therefore people can make their own choice as to whether they take it or not - and you can safely assume they'd only take it if they had milk.

It's a lovely thought- but perhaps just donate something else (mince pies, Christmas pud, crackers even?) or give the trifle mix and hope for the best.

But how lovely of you anyway, it's nice to hear people thinking of others.

At the time of visiting a foodbank people are down to their last penny, so unlikely to spend 50p on milk for a trifle.
It's a nice thought though. If you want to give a packet mix, why not cookies or fairy cakes so you just add water. Or something Christmassy like a Christmas pudding or mince pies.

i did think about that bit not a lot of people like Christmas pudding. i think I will just give the and hope for the best.
