Our garden room is finally finished - decor wise. New room - new rules. New anarchy...

The curtains arrive next week, they are an awful lot more money than I had budgeted but will last for years. So I am feeling a bit precious about the room at the moment...Blush

Anyhoo, as a result I have banned all food in there, DS (15) is traumatised. Grin

DH said at this rate, I will make Hyacinth Bucket look like a slattern. Grin

Quite right. I did this in our old house.
Then one day, I thought I'd just have a wee biscuit with my cuppa in there as I know I can trust myself not to make a mess. Slippery slope and all that, soon I was eating secret tinned ravioli without telling DH.
I would go with Food Only If You Are Very Careful And You Must Clear Your Plates. Disclaimer: Spillages On Pain Of Death.

What's a 'garden room'? [thick]

HedgehogsDontBite · 16/11/2014 18:30

Google tells me it's what Hyacinth types call a shed.

skylark2 · 16/11/2014 18:32

What's a garden room for, if not having a quiet cup of tea and a biscuit?

I've completely decorated the whole house. No one is allowed to touch the walls, especially the ones with wallpaper. I also tell everyone who enters ( in a jokey but I mean it way). It cost us a lot of money to do this house up, I don't want anyone ruining it. I agree with you no food!!

WorraLiberty · 16/11/2014 18:38

I don't know what a garden room is or what your AIBU question is?

But no doubt, once the novelty wears off, food will be allowed so your 15yr old just needs to hold tight Grin

Queenofthemountains I love you....

I'm currently trying to turn a partially newly decorated room with sliding glass doors into a room that's as if it's just a big window in order to limit the muck. It makes me long for total control.

r2d2ismyidealman · 16/11/2014 18:45

Ps, I've become the person you visit who asks you to take your shoes off at the entrance.

saoirse31 · 16/11/2014 18:46

So is it only your house??? You know they'll all secretly ignore you anyway....

RyanAirVeteran · 16/11/2014 18:54

Freedom31

I predict by the end of January it will be as you predict. Grin

Nosy question. If you bought your curtains online, please can I ask where from?

Looking for new lounge curtains and struggling to find anything.

ilovechristmas1 · 16/11/2014 19:50

why cant a home be a relaxing place instead of a show house these days

my mum used to make the rules,no eating in lounge (new carpet etc) they were soon broken
