Romeo Beckham gets £45 grand for a days work.

How much does this family need. Burberry have paid 12 year old Romeo £45.000 for one days work modeling. I don't wear Burberry myself but if I did that would probably put me off ever buying it again. How far will this family go for publicity and money. Small change to them though. But isn't there something wrong when a 12 year old gets in one day what it might take most of us a year or two to earn?

Op- would you be happier if Burberry paid a model say 500 quid for the day's work and the rest added to the Burberry profit margin so that share holders or other rich investors made that money?

I think that I read that Burberry wasn't doing well. If paying RB £45k generates £450k in sales then surely Burberry made a good business decision?

I know what you're saying op (45k is a lot to us normal people) but imagine if RB saved that money and used it to pay for his degree or as an adult donated it to football charities in third world countries?

Loads of celebrities lend their name to fashion lines. I've never heard people complain about Emma Bunton or Myleene Klass (ex pop stars with clothing lines)
While I think that she seems very unhealthy, I admire how she has created a successful business in the industry that she loves. It would have been easy for her to live off DB's earnings. Coleen Rooney and Cheryl are the only examples of WAGs that I can think of who tried to make a separate career and are miles away from emulating her business success.

No, ive disagreed with everything you've said. However having seen how you now deny what you said and meant in the OP i can see why it suits you to say i have twisted what you said.

People do seem to forget, I think, that before the beckhams it wasn't really that cool for celebrities to stay happily married, have children, have a career and be proud of it all and to be seen trying to do a decent job of it. That is why VB is a role model. It doesn't matter if you like her or not. Women in the media esp would never ever have been seen pregnant on TV and would have had to leave their jobs. Now it's just the norm but it never was.
It is an obscene amount of money to pay a 12 year old I agree, but yes Burberry do now get a lot of coverage.

Can you not read polly? Where did I mention bitchy? Or adoring everyone? You seem very confused and unable to articulate yourself.

Your op was nothing but snide about the Beckhams.

Had you wanted to discuss the inequalities between rich and poor, it would have been a different op and a different thread.

slithytove · 13/11/2014 18:33

She is making it up as she goes along cats.

Pollyteacakes · 13/11/2014 18:35

Mrsdevere There is nothing sneering about my posts. My original post was about the injustices of a 12 year old making so much in one day. I stand by that because to me it epitomizes everything that is wrong in our society. We seem to have digressed from this to talk about VB and I said how I didn't see her as a role model for young girls. I stand by this. A role model is someone who you can aspire to be and look up to. Most girls aren't going to get a footballer husband or be in a girl band. It's unrealistic and just isn't going to happen.
VB puts far to much emphasis on clothes imo, and like someone said up thread she's admitted she's never read a book in her life.
I don't sneer at her as you say, but I certainly don't admire her just because she's made a fortune. She said she "wants to empower women through clothes"......one of the most nonsensical statements I've ever heard. There are many things that empower women! hugely expensive clothes isn't one of them.

This is a snide thread about the Beckhams, particularly VB.

That's obvious.

slithytove · 13/11/2014 18:38

Your posts are brill mrsd

Pollyteacakes · 13/11/2014 18:39

Slithy The Beckhams are a perfect example of the point I was making. The article about Romeo was in the news yesterday, why wouldn't I use that as an example. You didn't mention adoring anyone! no I made the assumption! just as you are doing about my posts.

OP posts:
slithytove · 13/11/2014 18:40

Maybe a woman creating and running a successful business giving employment to maybe others and contributing to the economy can empower other women. Even if it is through clothes.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 13/11/2014 18:40

How far will this family go for publicity and money

Opening post, clearly having a go at his parents.

If not sneering, what?

slithytove · 13/11/2014 18:40

*many others

slithytove · 13/11/2014 18:41

No assumptions.

Your opening post was critical and snide of the Beckhams.

As for the rest of your posts, they aren't worth bothering with as you seem to invent content and change what you mean every 2 minutes.

ArsenicSoup · 13/11/2014 18:42

Quite agree, Polly.

Depressing that designer clothes and capitalism supposedly make a role model, even when the capitalism sucks the DC in too.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 13/11/2014 18:46

VB is in a happy marriage with children both her and David love and look after properly whilst also having careers where they do not forsake their parental duties. What on earth is wrong with that.

I haven't changed one single thing or back tracked on anything. What a load of celeb lovers some of you lot are. Always baffles me that, so quick to jump to the defence of someone who really doesn't need it. I wonder if you'd be so keen to defend the underdogs in life.

What is wrong with VB trying to empower women through her clothing....?
