To think that you just don't do this?

Last night the house was a mess after a busy weekend. The throw was on the floor and when I picked it up there was a big spider on it. Dp put the spider inside one of ds toy tubs to put outside later.

Half an hour later dp and I thought we'd better have a quick tidy up so he did the sitting room while I did the kitchen. I came back in and he'd put all ds toys back in the tub. I asked him about the spider and first he said he'd put it out the window and then out the door.

I knew he'd done neither as I'd heard neither being opened, and I could just tell.

He then admitted he'd forgotten about the spider, couldn't be bothered to empty the tub and best to just leave it to die and it would fall out next time ds plays or next time I'm sorting the toys.

Aibu to think that this is just not something you'd do? It's probably trivial but he does similar things all the time and it winds me up.

I may release a moth or butterfly on him when he's in the bath one day as revenge.

Between my fear of spiders and his fear of just about everything else with more than two legs, we're a right pair.

EW! My DH once put a beetle in a pot with a lid in the shed because he "wanted to find out what sort it was" and it was still there a month later!

I think it's just boys and bugs really. Gross but kind of...I dunno...to be expected?

Claw, I don't appreciate your hmmm face or your 'ffs'. The OP's first post says that he said, and I quote, 'best to just leave it to die and it would fall out next time ds plays'.

Am I the only person on here who would want it dead? If you put it out surely it will want to come back in. I hate spiders. They terrify me.

ClawHandsIfYouBelieveInFreaks · 10/11/2014 13:55

Lovers Ah well. Can't please everybody.

ClangerOnaComeDown · 10/11/2014 14:51

chocolate I'm not the biggest fan of spiders but they are very good to have in the home. They eat all the mini pests.

Also, what gives you the right to kill it?

OnlyLovers · 10/11/2014 15:58

I don't know what you mean by that, Claw.

ineedabodytransplant · 10/11/2014 17:17

and Claws...u-bends are usually full of water. Unless spiders can scuba I can't see how they would be able to get through the wet stuff Grin

TheHorseHasBolted · 10/11/2014 21:39

I would have wanted to free it but not for the same reasons as you. I'd be a bit sad to think of it being squashed under all those toys.

Yackity · 10/11/2014 22:01

chocolate - I'm with you, I want 'em dead.

I still have the Australian attitude of having a very healthy fear of the bastards - but then against so many of them in Australia are poisonous. My instinct is to splat first, look closely later.
