To think we should go on a Cadbury Chocolate strike - until they put the recipe (and shape) back to how it was

We should go on a Cadburys Chocolate Strike :-)

Or, only buy supermarket own-brand chocolate from now on. (some of which is really good)

That'd teach them to mess about with the ingredients in our Cadburys chocolate. And I don't carewhat they try and fob us off with - the bars are a lot sweeter (different cheape sweetener used?) and they have lost their smoothness.
In other words, Cadburys tastes crap.

I'm on a permanent Cadburys strike. I have never really liked Cadburys. It isn't chocolatey enough and has a harsh, sickly taste.

HappyAgainOneDay · 10/11/2014 20:08

I don't buy it anyway. It's nicer chocolate in Aldi.

KitCat26 · 10/11/2014 20:15

I don't buy Cadbury any more. And if dh brings some home hes on his own eating it!

Aldi do a delicious milk chocolate and almond slab... Mmmmmm.

RunByFruiting · 10/11/2014 20:19

I've not bought Cadbury for a few years now, it's all shit.

Hotel chocolat or fresh Belgian, although I find tesco own brand after eights & orange segments are lovely!

googoodolly · 10/11/2014 20:32

I tried it a couple of times after Kraft changed the recipe and it was horrible. Haven't bought it since Sad I miss my Dairy Milk binges!

HappydaysArehere · 11/11/2014 22:37

I'm off to Aldi. Keep meaning to try this store but haven't got around to making the journey. However, the chocolate you describe HappyAgain makes it a must. Wonder if they do chocolate rice bars.....

Madamecastafiore · 11/11/2014 22:39

The purple fruit and nut one in Aldi is better than Cadburys anyway.

grimbletart · 11/11/2014 22:44

Sounds like Kraft have Americanised it - given it the texture of a Hershey bar (which are terminally foul).

TheSkiingGardener · 11/11/2014 22:46

A bar of Cadburys caramel used to be a treat. The first time I got the new recipe one it was such a huge disappointment. I don't buy them now and it makes me sad. Bloody Kraft.

Icantwaituntilxmas · 11/11/2014 22:58

I still like it, but I like any chocolate. I think it's because when recovering from an ED, I tasted chocolate for the 1st time in 2 years... like a new awakening Grin

Yes I'm with you. I rant about this all the time and curse those bloody americans messing with our chocolate. People in real life just don't seem to care as much as me. Thankfully I live in NIreland and when we travel south and buy Cadburys there it tastes like it always did. Its made in a different factory than the one in England.

RubyGoat · 12/11/2014 00:05

It's horrible, sickly & greasy & chemical tasting. I think I used to like it, way back in the mists of time. G&B is going downhill as well. I seem to going off chocolate.

CharmQuark · 12/11/2014 00:14

It's completely disgusting now.

I now buy better more expensive chocolate less often and enjoy it much more.

It's a real shame about one of our proudest national products. Sad

ScarletFever · 12/11/2014 08:16

Meh..... I don't care either way... Don't like their chocolate, don't buy it. It's not hard

The coins stoppage is a crappy marketing ploy so they can say "back by popular demand"

LarrytheCucumber · 12/11/2014 09:08

In Australia the cadburys really does taste awful though we used to love the Cadbury's Rocky Road and will be asking friends to bring some over when they visit. Wish they'd do Rocky Road here instead of the silly popping candy.

threepiecesuite · 12/11/2014 09:19

I was a die-hard Cadbury fan. I used to get through packs of Dairy Milk at a time. A big foil-wrapped bar was the ultimate treat.

But yes, it's shit now. I persevered but I just kept being disappointed.
Then I discovered Lidl Fin Carré. 35p a large bar. Amazing.

paxtecum · 12/11/2014 09:41

It would be brilliant if we only bought Fair Trade chocolate, tea & coffee.

We should force the multinationals to be Fair Trade.
It might cost a small percentage more, but so what.
We don't need to consume vast bars of chocolate bought cheaply because the cocoa was produced by child slaves.
If all chocolate was Fair Trade we could eat a bit less and be safe in the knowledge that the growers were treated fairly.

Pedallleur · 12/11/2014 10:12

At the risk of being controversial it's not 'our' chocolate it belongs to Kraft or whoever buys the company. They make it their way and if sales don't drop and affect profits then the change is fine. They have only 1 interest - profit so the cheaper they can make it the better. 'Our' chocolate was always awful - read the amount of cocoa solids on the label then compare to eg Aldi/Lindt etc. You need more cocoa, less palm oil. Green and Blacks also owned by Kraft

ScarletFever · 12/11/2014 12:12

"We should go on a Cadburys Chocolate Strike :-)"

why are people buying it if they dont like it? Surely that is a boycott.... no one is forcing you with a gun to the head to buy it?

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 12/11/2014 12:52

Cadburys was always horrible because the texture was grainy, like it had milk powder stirred through it. Blurgh! If they've fixed that though, it might taste better now.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 12/11/2014 13:03

Ok - so I'm off to Lidl this afternoon, which of their chocolate bars should I try?

HIC that's so cruel, I'm longing for a Peanut Slab now :( I asked my friend to send me one, lovely friend sent some, she stupidly mistakenly thought I'd prefer a bag of the mini ones. Distraught I was, distraught! I wanted the chunk you can barely bit though! Though, I believe they are thinner and smaller now anyway?! Cheezles and twisties are the things I miss the most though - I'm hoping someone will send me some at Christmas!!

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 12/11/2014 13:07

Co-op and lidl have choc with rice pop stuff in it if that's what you're after Happydays? And The One Stop sells Crunch.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 12/11/2014 14:53

Cor, honestly, you lot are no help. I'll just have to choose a few one and hope for the best.

Feel free to tell me what I should have bought Grin
