To think we should go on a Cadbury Chocolate strike - until they put the recipe (and shape) back to how it was

We should go on a Cadburys Chocolate Strike :-)

Or, only buy supermarket own-brand chocolate from now on. (some of which is really good)

That'd teach them to mess about with the ingredients in our Cadburys chocolate. And I don't carewhat they try and fob us off with - the bars are a lot sweeter (different cheape sweetener used?) and they have lost their smoothness.
In other words, Cadburys tastes crap.

There appears to be two of these threads this morning.

It's coming up to Christmas so we are all thinking about Chocolate? Wink

I'm a lifelong Cadbury (and chocolate fan) fan and can't notice any difference in the taste. I can't have very finely honed taste buds and it all tastes the same as ever to me. I haven't had any of the chocolate box chocs though like Roses.

Frogme · 10/11/2014 17:38

I agree with you.

Legionofboom · 10/11/2014 17:44

This appears to be like all great MN boycotts.

Everyone who doesn't buy it anyway is willing to continue not buying it and join the boycott. Everyone who likes it will carry on buying it as usual. Grin

normansgreasybarnet · 10/11/2014 17:46

We are all sheep, basically.

OP posts:
MonstrousRatbag · 10/11/2014 17:48

I think the taste is the same, but not the texture. It's gone all clarty.

Birdsgottafly · 10/11/2014 17:48

Well, if you support child slave labour, buy Cadburys.

I wish Porn could be discussed so sensibly, there's less exploitation and deaths in that, than there is in most of the Cocoa Bean trade.

But to change things it would mean that consumers would have to give a shit about Human Rights and the environment, I suppose.

normansgreasybarnet · 10/11/2014 17:56

I try to buy Fairtrade chocolate as much as possible, birds.

There are some truffles for 1.99 in lidl which are AMAZING

HicDraconis · 10/11/2014 18:17

They changed it in NZ, there was an almighty backlash, they changed it back
Really?

Absolutely - they changed the recipe to include palm oil, it was disgusting and nobody bought any. Huge outcry and palm oil was removed again. However NZ has a fab alternative to Cadbury - Whittaker's - which I don't think you can get in the UK. I've switched to Whittaker's entirely now, it's perfect for eating or baking with.

Chippednailvarnish · 10/11/2014 18:39

When will food manufacturers learn? I can't remember a food having a new improved recipe and anyone liking it!

MairyHinge · 10/11/2014 18:53

I'm currently in an email stand off with Mondelez international ( Cadbury). I bought a truck load of hazel nut whirls from the Cadbury shop in the Freeport in Fleetwood. I love hazel nut whirls hence the truck load
Anyway they are fucking vile. Very sweet cheap chocolate. I can't eat them.
Ive emailed MI and the first email they sent made no sense ( something like, " not everyone likes new products but thank you for taking the time to contact us" they're very far from being a new product)
I've used twitter, to no avail.
I'm not happy.
They offered a refund but it'd cost me a fortune to send them back!!

I'm not sure of my next step but I'm not leaving it.
I went to the Freeport ONLY for these choccies. ( and I am NOT local either, a good hours drive away) Cadbury should be ashamed.

HexBramble · 10/11/2014 18:59

What?! No coins?!?!?!

normansgreasybarnet · 10/11/2014 19:01

MairyHinge,
M & S Hazelnut whirls are good. I think they come in a pack of 3 and the price isn't too bad.

I pretty much don't bother with Cadburys any more.

Plenty of better chocolate out there I will now spend my money on.

TheDogsMissingBollock · 10/11/2014 19:26

Mmm it's always tasted crap. Green & Blacks/Lindt? Now you're talking!

SwedishEdith · 10/11/2014 19:31

Don't Cadbury's own Green and Black's? They'll probably ruin that next

I picked up some Fruit & Nut today and then put it down because I knew I'd be disappointed. Yes, nice chocolate is lovely but, sometimes Dairy Milk was just what you wanted Sad

MairyHinge · 10/11/2014 19:32

normans you're thinking of walnut whip.
I'm on about the hazel nut whirls from roses, purple & orange wrapping.

Thanks tho!

Nonie241419 · 10/11/2014 19:35

I'm in. I've been persevering but it's just too soft and sickly.

BerniceBroadside · 10/11/2014 19:37

I'm in. The cheapo value aldi chocolate is nicer than that bag of wank.

Does anyone do a version of a crunchie? I'll miss crunchies. :(

TheSpottedZebra · 10/11/2014 19:50

Green and Blacks? They'll probably ruin that next

They're already on the case, that is tasting cheaper too. Nowhere near as nice as it was.

Notmymonkeys · 10/11/2014 19:51

I usually eat aldi chocolate these days. Cadburys tastes like solidified vegetable oil. It's horrible.

I bought a bar of cheapo tesco own brand chocolate recently to use in a recipe and ate the leftover squares. They were a lot nicer than Dairy Milk.

LaVieBoheme · 10/11/2014 19:54

I must admit, I haven't noticed a change in taste but I bloody hate the shape! Makes it so much hard to break a bit off, which just results in me eating more what a shame.. .

My favourite chocolate is the sainsburys basics though!

Marylou2 · 10/11/2014 19:56

Count me in.It tastes vile!

HappydaysArehere · 10/11/2014 19:59

Crumbs, I've just consumed another bar of my husband's Cadbury's chocolate his sister bought him. I didn't realise I had saved him from eating inferior goods. I have just asked if he had noticed any difference and he said he had but couldn't work out what that was. I was gobbling so fast I hadn't detected the difference. However, I can feel a lingering after taste which my guilt was causing me to ignore.!

Right, heading for the Lindt, Green and Blacks and M and S Swiss chocs! Anyone know where I can buy chocolate containing rice? Love it. Sainsbury's used to do it but can't find it now? Would be grateful if some choc detective could help.
