To think telling someone to 'shut up' because you don't like the song they're singing is rude?

At work I was singing (very quietly, I promise!) a pop song as I went about my business and colleague said 'you need to shut up, I fucking hate that song!'

But it's ok for her to have her music BLASTING out at deafening levels when travelling in her car (we have to travel in pairs part of the job.)

AIBU to think that was really, REALLy rude?

Yanbu. I suppose she'd describe herself as direct and no nonsense

Toofattorun · 08/11/2014 17:09

Tell her she's a twunt with massive billowing fanny flaps.

That'll fuck her off.

sooperdooper · 08/11/2014 17:11

The way she said it was really rude, but people singing at work is really irritating too, so I'm on the fence

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 08/11/2014 17:11

Yes she was really rude, I hope you carried on humming and pretended you never heard the daft mare.

DomiKatetrix · 08/11/2014 17:12

Are you just a shit singer?

Toofattorun · 08/11/2014 17:13

Was it "shake it off"?

Posingwithpenguins · 08/11/2014 17:16

Oh I'm definitely a shit singer! Grin

It was 'Rude' by magic ha ha

DomiKatetrix · 08/11/2014 17:22

Hmm
Pumpkinpositive · 08/11/2014 17:24

Are you the OP with the chain smoking car colleague?

Toofattorun · 08/11/2014 17:25

Just keep singing "why you gotta be so rude?" Over and over again!!

Vivacia · 08/11/2014 17:42

I can't think of a time when "Shut up" isn't rude. I can't stand that thing on the telly for saying "Shat up" as in "No way!".

OwlWearingSunglasses · 08/11/2014 17:42

pumpkin

Are you the OP with the chain smoking car colleague?

I thought that too.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 08/11/2014 17:52

Yes she put it rudely but you really shouldn't be singing at work, it's incredibly annoying. It's also different t playing music while in a car.

Posingwithpenguins · 08/11/2014 18:11

She smokes but I've not posted on here about it. What thread?

Ehric - I think a little song from me is quite tame in terms of 'annoying colleagues'!
