Last August an acquaintance of dh's was trying to rehome a dog on FB for her mil, who got a Labrador puppy, despite having a heart problem and not being able to walk very far.

The Mils condition worsened, and necessitated long hospital stays so after much debate dh and I took the dog, and gave her £100, rather than her be pts or flogged in FB.

We have since had her spayed, and her microchip changed into our name.

The mil has been in touch to say her other son has just left the army, and could therefore do the walking, and can she have the dog back?Shock

Aibu to say no you can't you cheeky cow, we love her and she is very much part of our family.Angry

Joffrey I remember that thread! They would turn up in the car and sit outside the dog's new owner's house if I recall.
Bonkers!

Christ, that sounds like my very worst nightmare! Shock

PacificDogwood · 08/11/2014 17:00

I was under the impression that sparkly poo is par for the course when living with dogs and toddlers?
And you are lucky if it is only the dog who produces glittery motions…. Grin

sooperdooper · 08/11/2014 17:06

What a beautiful dog :)

Crazy lady is indeed crazy, she's your dog - end if story! hope that's the end of it and you hear nothing more but update if you get a reply!

Dragonfly71 · 08/11/2014 17:47

Gorgeous dog, we bought our dog for £100 from a lady who couldn't keep him because he didn't get on with her other dogs ( she had several) He is a pedigree and we were given all the paperwork etc but there was nothing in writing. He has been with us 4 years now. Makes me realise I was lucky, and I should have recorded the sale.
Really hope they back off and you don't have to use legal angle.
Btw ours is a tinker too, went shopping to high st on his own once and has invited him self to neighbours houses and stolen their ( dirty) socks. Ate an Oap's sandwich on a country walk, threw up at the office when I took him to visit, and is on a mission to rid the house of cushions. Gotta love him tho Hmm

KnackeredMuchly · 08/11/2014 17:54

See if you can find your previous thread debating whether to buy her. Wouldn't hurt to have more evidence.

Katrose · 08/11/2014 18:02

Good luck OP!

PacificDogwood · 08/11/2014 18:03

We could all be witnesses - I too remember the 'Dog broke in to Preschool' thread Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 08/11/2014 18:05

I remember the crazy couple knocking on the door and demanding the dog back.

CurlyWurlyCake · 08/11/2014 18:13

Laughing at your dog escaping to pre school Grin

Jaw on floor here!

DuchessofNorks · 08/11/2014 18:59

Gorgeous Pup Smile

The previous owner is deluded. Papers mean bog all, especially when they have had to permit the change in chip details.

You and Daisy are safe OP. She has no right, legal or moral, to regain possession of your beautiful dog

Vycount · 08/11/2014 20:21

If the microchip company contacted the previous owner before changing it to your name, she gave permission, so I really can't see that there's anything to worry about. Microchips if kept up to date do register ownership, can't see much grey about the law there.

lomega · 08/11/2014 20:24

I read this thread earlier and my jaw literally dropped! I can't wait to see what batshit woman's reply is to your email. She has NO right to demand your dog back, especially as she put her on facebook with a note to say she'd be PTS if no home was found. what a dim view of another creature's life - seems like the dog is a million times better off with you.

It does concern me that my family takes in 'rescues' from people who don't want the dog any more citing divorce/new baby/can't cope with it. I'll have to ask them if they sign any sort of receipt or hand over any sort of agreement when they do it, to stop this from happening. worrying...

AnnaFiveTowns · 08/11/2014 20:32

The dog is yours - legally and morally. It doesn't matter whether she has the "papers". You bought her and she willingly sold her.

She clearly doesn't give a toss about the welfare if the poor dog ( never mind you!) who will have bonded with you. She's utterly selfish. People like her make my blood boil. You just know she'll get another one and dump it the minute the going gets tough. Hmm

Please don't let her have YOUR poor dog back.

Hobbes8 · 08/11/2014 20:45

On a complete tangent...didn't someone on here quite recently eat glitter to see if it turned their poo sparkly, and then had to go and see a doctor about their piles? I wonder how that turned out...

ddubsgirl77 · 08/11/2014 22:12

I can honestly say with 4 kids and pets none have ever had sparkly poo ??

puntasticusername · 08/11/2014 22:37

Am feeling absurdly deprived now, that I have never yet witnessed sparkly child poo. May pop out to little Tesco (they'll have it, right? It's a staple) for some edible glitter so I can put it in DSs' Shreddies in the morning.

ChameleonCircuit · 08/11/2014 23:57

Our dog once ate my plasticine. Not glittery, but multicoloured shit piles ensued.

OP - please keep us updated on Crazy Lady's reply. Hmm

SistersOfPercy · 09/11/2014 00:04

Mine eats foam earplugs. Every now and again I'll pick up a small pile with a fluorescent orange topping. At least it makes it visible.

Keith, I think it's safe to say they can jog on and daisy is safe with you.
