Just that really. I have 2 iPads one is an IPad 1 and one is and iPad 3 gave the older one to my mum to use and after the latest update it's pretty much been rendered useless.

Most apps don't work. Safari cuts off, can't watch videos on FB etc. all after this update. I realise it's an older model, but I also think that I spent a not insubstantial amount of money on it only a few years ago and think its annoying that I'm being forced into buying a new one if I want to keep using an iPad. Think I'll be replacing with an android device.

I hate my iPad. I got it for free so make the best of it, but I can't do work on it the way my husband can with his Windows tablet. My android phone is much "smarter". Will definitely go android or Windows for my next tablet.

I have the iPhone 5c and contract ends next month. It worked fine until iPhone 6 came out and I downloaded iOS8. With each update more things go wrong. The phone is still functional but I have to reset it several times a day.
Planned obsolescence. All a big scam so I buy the iPhone 6.
I am getting a Samsung, Apple can get screwed.

I'm still on ios6. All apps seem to be working ok. Its an ipad4....whatever they call it.

Dd has an ipad2 on ios8. She says hers is fine.

I have an iPad air and the latest update screwed it up so its not restricted to old models.

My battery life is now shite and it drops the wifi signal all the feckin time.

I've an iPhone 6 and it's working ok

I was going to get my son an iPad now I have no clue what to get instead.my friends kindle fire put me off those and I have no idea what is comparable to the iPad

I don't know any computer geek who rates Apple.

They are so restrictive:
Updates render the products useless
You can't increase the memory
They only synchronise with other Apple products

What is the advantage of owning Apple unless you can afford to buy the latest product and all your other gadgets are Apple?

I would like to throw them and Microsoft (who use similar tactics) into room 101.

Samsung Galaxy Tablets are the higest ranking ones at the moment. They've been at the top of the game for a while now.

The Google Nexus not far behind and Asus are doing very well despite a shakey start with the notebooks.

Avoid Blackberry at all costs.

bunbaker I think the key factor is that you don't need to be a computer geek to work Apple products- they are so intuitive.

Having said that I'm totally pissed off with the latest update- everything annoys me and I can't see any benefits.

Samsung or google nexus, kindle fire okay but too limited to amazon only apps....

You don't need to be a computer geek to use any of the products. That's why Samsung are doing so bloody well and have been for YEARS.

Their products are dead easy to use, they don't do updates because there's no need to, you can add memory, buy what you like from where you like and are half the price of Apple.

I'm Apple'd up to the eye-balls. I love them! Even my old iPad that is stuck on 5.1.1. (and never offers updates) is still fine (though loads of games won't work on him now).
Had a brief encounter with Windows 8.1 recently. I hated it. I guess it's just what you're used to really.

I don't find DD's iPad intuitive. It doesn't have a "back" button for a start. I prefer my laptop (once it has powered up) to the Macbook because it has more functionality. So I would argue that you don't need to be a computer geek to use non Apple products.

I had an iPad 1 and now an Air and they have their flaws but they certainly both had back buttons?

If ios 8 doesn't work can't you just restore to the last backup?

I love my iphone & I prefer the app store to google play which my tablet has but I don't like Apple.

bunbaker on the Air you tap the top tool bar and you have a left and right arrow which is forwards and backwards.

There is a back space button. But if you want to correct something you've previously typed, just hold your finger over it and a magnifying glass will pop up with the curser... just get curser in the right place and correct away!
