To think a 3 hour round trip for a night out is too much?

A friend I have not seen for ages (more than a year) has invited me to an adults only Christmas party in her new pad. Trouble is the journey to her place from home is over 90 minutes each way!! I'd probably only be able to stay for a hour before I'd need to head back again to relieve baby sitter as my kids are not good sleepers for other people (they co sleep with me). Am I being unreasonable to decline suggesting we meet up for a Christmas drink somewhere half way between us? I made crap excuses for her two last at home invitations so I'm feeling really guilty!

Ps if my lo's were older and sleeping through I'd have no problem.

I think that's reasonable and if she's a good friend then she should understand and appreciate your situation. If she's hosting an adults only party, she must accept that this creates childcare issues for some people so she shouldn't be surprised if it means people in your position aren't able to come.
