How would you even find the place? I'd imagine they googled something and stumbled upon a thread and stuck around. Am I right?

OP posts:

OP I found MN by googling a particular question about IVF and a Mumsnet thread was the first link so I clicked and have had wonderful advice and support ever since.

4 years later I am still childless and unlikely to have children. Shall I fuck off? Hmm

LulaPalooza · 05/11/2014 20:10

I found it due to a very embarrassing and juvenile invasion by a bunch of twats on another board I used to post on. It was only hilarious because the MNers who came onto that site in retaliation made them look like a bunch of feeble amateurs.

I first posted because I needed to vent when I had an ectopic pregnancy and was feeling very alone. The lovely people who responded saved my sanity and a friendship.

I later found it useful for information on being a step-parent

Then I mostly stayed because you can fucking swear

And because no other forum I have been on has

Did any of you current MN'rs get to post on the Penis Beaker thread? It was before my tim, so I missed all the excitement! and any chance of 15 minutes of fame Shock

Brummiegirl15 · 05/11/2014 20:15

Hmmm I came on here because I needed and still need comfort and support for having 2 miscarriages in 3 months, of which the support has been wonderful.

Should I fuck off too as I don't have children so, as you've helpfully reminded me "I shouldn't be on here"

Fixerupperz · 05/11/2014 20:18

Give me strength.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 05/11/2014 20:23

Ginny I can't remember if I posted or not. I definitely didn't find it funny, just revolting and has caused a lot of problems ever since. Though, upside, we have got a few new nice members :)

Brummie, YesYes, escorpian etc don't feel chased away. It's no one else's business why you are here or how many children you do or don't have. - the vast majority of posters don't even feel the need to 'wonder why people with children post here' because they have an imagination and/or some empathy x

Exactly this.

Does someone get paid to ask this question every three months?

DramaAlpaca · 05/11/2014 20:26

Why on earth shouldn't they? There's so much more going on here than child related stuff.

velocity1 · 05/11/2014 20:29

I came because of a google result. I'm still here because I enjoy reading a lot of the different threads, and because I want to know what not to do as a grandparent/mil. Wish it had been around when my DC were small

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/11/2014 20:29

I've been here 5 years and only just started TTC this month. MN is full of intelligent funny women and that's why I joined

AnyFawker · 05/11/2014 20:30

Oooh, s'excitin'

StopBarking · 05/11/2014 20:33

My first thread was about the cheek of looking your friends handbag. I laughed along. I never pist on threads about children.

StopBarking · 05/11/2014 20:34

Yy to the tedium of somebody asking this q every few months!!!

StopBarking · 05/11/2014 20:36

Instead of for parents by parents, maybe the tag line should say "for fucking everyone who likes to swear"!!

Vitalstatistix · 05/11/2014 20:39

are you quite sure that's exactly how you want to phrase it, Zee?

If it's not obvious to you why someone without children would want to spend time here then you've been reading the wrong threads.

Trills · 05/11/2014 20:52

So yes, YABU.

Comito · 05/11/2014 20:55

I don't have DCs. I've known about MN for a long time but came across a thread when I was searching for something else and ended up joining because the stuff I read was hilarious and interesting.

I now bore my DH to tears recounting MN threads to him. He did once ban the site on our wifi for a laugh so I banned his favourite forum and he gave in. Grin

mrssmith79 · 05/11/2014 20:58

I started posting about 8y ago on the TTC threads, think I found the site via fertilityfriends. Guess they forgot to revoke my membership when my 'barren' status was confirmed Hmm.

Seriously though, is this question not getting old now? Not that OP has bothered coming back to it Biscuit

Monmouth · 05/11/2014 21:01

No, I don't wonder why.

I do wonder why someone would post this, yet ,again and then piss off.

HowsTheSerenity · 05/11/2014 21:02

I swear I posted a long winded reply on this topic recently.

Short reply and to quote Billie Piper "Because we want to".

Monmouth · 05/11/2014 21:02

Have an extra apostrophe on me Op.
