Me, Labour.

OP posts:
rollonthesummer · 04/11/2014 17:22

I agree with a lot of what the Greens say but think it would be a wasted vote.

dessertisland · 04/11/2014 17:36

I might use the 20 minutes it would take me to vote to actually do something that would make a difference to the world, like cutting the grass. Lib Lab Con are all basically the same thing, except they have slightly different sets of rich CEO mates they pander to at everyone elses expense. Even UKIP who are going to "shake up politics" are yet another bunch of elitist NIMBY old farts who just have a marginally different stance on the EU to the tories.

In theory I'd like to vote Green but by all accounts their politicians are councillors are all morons.

MrSheen · 04/11/2014 17:36

I wouldn't trust the Tories with a piggy bank any more than I'd trust labour. Both the debt and the deficit have increased under this government
The debt by £517 billion in 4 years, which is more than the previous labour government. They had to spend because of the global (yes, global) recession but they aren't economically savvy at all. Dave didn't even know about the EU bill. They fudge the figures all the time. They even seemed surprised that by creating a low wage economy, income from tax receipts would be low.

olaflikeswarmhugs · 04/11/2014 17:37

Not Labour aka Red Tories anyway .
SNP all the way . Like the greens too but will vote SNP .

Intastella · 04/11/2014 17:46

SNP for me

dessertisland · 04/11/2014 17:47

MrSheen I don't believe that is true, the deficit has reduced a bit but since there is still a deficit the debt is still increasing. TBH even George Osborne and Ed Balls don't seem to understand the difference between debt and deficit so the chance of either of them sorting the two out is remote. But we've certainly not had anything remotely close to "austerity", it's amazing how much waffle in the media and amongst campaign groups has gone on campaigning against austerity - we've not had any bloody austerity, the UK is still massively living outside of its means.

Bodicea · 04/11/2014 17:54

Tory.

They are not perfect but labour would undo all the good work and economic sacrifices this country has had to make since the recession and that would very much wind me up!!!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 04/11/2014 18:00

Shaping up to be a very interesting election.

Scotland currently has 59 MPs of whom 40 are Labour and 6 are SNP.

The UK as a whole has 650 MPs.

At the last election the breakdown was:
Conservative 306
Labour 258
LibDem 57
Green 1
SNP 6
Speaker 1
Others (Plaid Cymru and NI parties) are the remainder.

UKIP now have 1 seat, taken from the Tories.

  1. No way will the LibDems get 57 seats this time.
  2. No way will Labour get 40 seats in Scotland.
  3. UKIP seem likely to win some seats from the Tories, Labour and the LibDems. The big question is, how many?

Overall result impossible to call at the moment.

CreepusExplodus · 04/11/2014 18:01

UKIP.

CloserLook · 04/11/2014 18:01

Undecided. But definately not the Tories or UKIP and not the LibDems (which is my usual vote) after what happened last time. I'm in a usually safe Labour area but UKIP are creeping up around here so might vote Labour just to try to keep them out. I like the idea of voting Green (if we even have a candidate) but would need to know more about their policies.

bigbluestars · 04/11/2014 18:09

SNP

LineRunner · 04/11/2014 18:15

Ukip are now in bed in Europe with a couple of holocaust deniers, no?

Dawndonnaagain · 04/11/2014 18:20

Shock at UKIP voters!

LineRunner · 04/11/2014 18:21

Well, the world is full of twats.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 04/11/2014 18:21

Subject to final policies, Tory.

I live in a London Labour stronghold though, with a huge pollution problem so I may vote Green if there's a cats chance in hell of getting rid of the cronyist MP who's simply lined the pockets of local developers for years as far as I can work out.

I don't like all their polices but I think they are best placed to renegotiate EU membership, and they should continue the thankless task to clean up the economy probably so that Labour can change leadership in time for the next election, woo disaffected voters who will have seen below inflation pay increases for 10yrs and screw it up again.

I'd vote Red Ken back in to be Mayor of London again though. As far as I can work out Boris has spent the best part of two terms taking credit for far reaching environmental policies and programmes that he implemented. I find the idea that he might become a credible leader of the Tories, pure whimsy. He's more likely to get Graham Norton's job on the Beeb.

I won't vote for any party that shows any inclination to join forces with UKIP though there's a reasonable chance that a Tory/UKIP coalition would be the death of UKIP in the same way it has been for the Lib Dems.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 04/11/2014 18:21

SNP

grovel · 04/11/2014 18:22

Conservative.

Sunnymeg · 04/11/2014 18:23

No idea, we are in a Conservative stronghold and our sitting MP has a very comfortable majority. However, we are rural Somerset and were very affected by flooding. Where I live didn't flood surrounding villages did. I think the way the floods were dealt with could make our seat a bit of an anomaly. The dredging has finished and apparently there are no plans or money to dread again. Lots of people are very concerned. I wouldn't be surprised to see an Independent candidate stand and do well in my constituency.

BathshebaDarkstone · 04/11/2014 18:33

Labour to get the Tories out. Smile

OddBoots · 04/11/2014 18:36

Green.

I used to think I'd wait for the manifestos but none of them have actually stuck to them anyway so I think I have to go for general ethos.

PeachyParisian · 04/11/2014 23:03

I'll be voting tactically, we live in an area that is overwhelmingly conservative but with an electorate tempted by fascist ukip policies.
I'll vote for whoever necessary to keep ukip out, if that means Tory so be it.

I'm v. Liberal but Clegg has pissed me off re:tuition fees. Cannot bear miliband or Cameron really but needs must.

DupontetDupond · 04/11/2014 23:44

Wish I lived in Scotland so I could vote SNP. It'll be either Plaid Cyrmu or Green for me

PhaedraIsMyName · 05/11/2014 00:31

Whichever candidate Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem or even Monster Raving Loony has the best chance of making sure the SNP doesn't win the seat. I loathe the SNP so much I really don't care .

deeedeee · 05/11/2014 00:53

Green

30somethingm · 05/11/2014 01:09

I could never vote UKIP or Tory. I'm not a usual Labour voter but have been reading about what parties have campaigned for and against in their history.

Labour campaigned for free healthcare and introduced the NHS - this was bitterly opposed by the Tories (wrong side of the moral argument!).

The Tories campaigned AGAINST the Gender Equality Act as apparently it would be crazy for it to be law for women to have equal pay. (wrong side of the moral argument)

The Tories campaigned AGAINST the minimum wage - apparently it was fine to pay people as low as 50p an hour (wrong side of the moral argument!).

When it comes to moral arguments, the Tories seem to be 10-20 years behind the Great British Progressive Public.

If it weren't for the likes of the Daily Mail propagating myths they would be finished as a party as their sense of morality is shocking! I remember my grandmother telling me about the cries of agony as people died of painful diseases because they couldn't afford care before the NHS. The Tories managed to stall the creation of the NHS by 3 years but with a majority government or with UKIP by their side they could destroy it in the same period of time.
