to be disappointed in some mumsnetters

My mum started me on mums net last year when I really needed advice and help regarding a few different issues.
I wasn't keen on the idea originally but I got a lot of helpful responses to my posts and mumsnet is now a daily Pitstop for me.
recently I have seen people being horrible, bitchy and downright mean regarding peoples problems or their English skills.
when did we stop being helpful and supportive?

The luffly MNers far, far outweight the twatty ones.
But with 4million users there is plenty of scope for twattishness.
I am very sympathetic to those who feel bullied on MN. The "report" and "hide" buttons help me feel like I can do something about those posters who overstep the mark.
However, this sort of OP really, really bugs me. Very PA and holier than thou.

My attitude is if you cannot stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

AIBU is a place to go for frank discussion. If you are acting like an unreasonable sod, expect the rest of the posters to bloody well tell you so. If someone crosses the line there is the option to report posts.

I do think people need to go easy on those who may have learning difficulties or personality disorders which affect their posting style. The problem is the first post does not normally contain a disclaimer saying by the way I have asd. However once it becomes apparent a poster has issues people should back off a bit.

I do prefer MN to NM though. I am on my final warning on NM for pointing out that a certain thread had been started by a troll and was totally false. In the end the thread got pulled entirely, but I did not get an apology for pointing out the bleeding obvious.

It might be part of their condition but it doesn't make the complaint about it reasonable. We all have to learn to live in the world and realise when we're being a bit ridiculous.

I could complain at length about how sitting still on a long train journey causes me a lot of pain (due to a medical condition) but I knew that would be the case when I got on the bloody train. If I started an AIBU about it, is expect to be told I was unreasonable because that's what happens on a train journey. It would be different if I asked for suggestions about how to mitigate the problem or something. But that's not what the OP of that thread did; she started an AIBU complaining about someone doing something to produce a shit smell in a public loo.

Calamitous.

Yes. Anyone would think that OP had a social communication disorder or something. Wink

But Sophia it wouldn't be remotely relevant to mention that he was white or fat, would it? Unless you had a real issue with white people and fatness. BO on the other hand….
