Anyone here a Goth in a past life?
I am watching the BBC four programme with all the goth stuff and it's made me really regret that I have few photos (and coherent memories) of my time as a student in Manchester and then at the Square Club in Cardiff.

Did you have a local Goth club, got any pictures or memories?

Is the programme on catch up? What was it called. Missed it. Also I seem to remember an episode of pyjama party filmed at Jillys on a goth night once. Anyone else remember that or did I invent it?

Oh yes, does anyone remember the old (or at least seemed it then) lady in a wheelchair who used to be in the Ritz on a Monday? If I age with half as much balls style as her I will be very pleased!

I used to go to the rocking horse in Edinburgh - it had a goth floor, rock floor and indie floor - it is now a trendy bar :(

I thought all goths went Jilly's Rock World. Seen The Fall there a couple of times and it was crammed with goths.

Question for Goths: this is something I have always wondered. Is Robert Smith from The Cure a Goth as he denies this but he looks just like one?

Ooh, lots of replies. I remember the Salisbury too. :) really have vague memories of that thine though - too much drinking. Sadly not kept in touch with many people.

I had two short 'romances' one with a guy who's dad was a bank manager (Matt) and the other with a bloke called Trevor who dumped me because I didn't want to sleep with him. Always wondered what happened to him.

I don't remember Goths in Jillys. We were all pretty tribal back then weren't we? I briefly considered becoming a Goth but thought it was too much hassle to change clubs/friends/my whole social circle because clearly there were no half measures in my head.

Goths were all enormous, what with the heels and hair. I used to appreciate a good Goth trot in Banshee though (trotting backwards and forwards in a line about 2 metres long)

Did anyone else get lunch in Cafe Yacob after shopping in Afflecks/Corn Exchange/Oasis on a Saturday?

Another Spiders regular here! It had everything, cheap food, cheap drink (Pangalactic Gargle Blaster anyone?) and the dj took requests. Still open now

Oh such memories! Ritz on a Monday, Playpen (42nd Street) on a Tuesday, can't remember where on a Wednesday, Banshee/Jillys (Rockworld) Thursday, Friday and Saturday - now that was a student debt well earned :-) I also worked in Rockworld for a while.

Goths were more in the Banshee, although I do remember a few in the fishbowl in Rockworld.

Does anyone remember Simon the deaf and dumb punk? We got him dancing in the Ritz and he was made up because he could feel the music through the bouncy dancefloor

Ooh fanjo that wasn't Trevor with the wild curly hair was it? He worked in the cloakroom in either The Banshee or Jillys (memory fails me, it was one or the other ) and he was gorgeous!

the Salisbury is still there and hasn't changed much - I was in there tonight before heading off to a gig at the Roadhouse......

I used to be a regular at Spiders too, some of the best nights ever, well what I can remember of them! I remember what we used to call Goth Corner where everybody who was very goth used to hang out!

I used to go out in Leeds a lot, Manchester as well and some of the London clubs like Slimelight. Moved down to Nottingham so remember Rock City too (used to work there) , great days (shuffles of to remember when I used to have a life...)

I went to the Banshee and Ritzys in Stockport. Goths downstairs, rockers upstairs.

Jilly's has closed down now :(
