YOU DO NOT WANT £50 OFF YOUR NEXT STAY!!!!

Put your foot down and DEMAND a massive discount now!!!

Hands over a set of MN balls to Dotty

NoraRobertsismyguiltypleasure · 29/10/2014 22:06

their

AimlesslyPurposeful · 29/10/2014 22:07

A worm?!

Oh, that really is grim.

ClawHandsIfYouBelieveInFreaks · 29/10/2014 22:09

Yes....make them take something off your bill now! Tell the manager that Mumsnet is waiting to hear how they do on customer service.

lucjam · 29/10/2014 22:09

£50 of your next stay. Laughable. Tell them to take it off this stay. How rude.

Fairyfellowsmasterstroke · 29/10/2014 22:10

Come on OP - Where are you.

Name and shame.

ethelb · 29/10/2014 22:14

A worm involves a call to the council. I would be expecting a full refund IMO.

Minerves · 29/10/2014 22:22

worm

a WORM?

full refund time!

Justgotosleepnow · 29/10/2014 22:22

An actual worm? like from the garden? No way.
Phone the food standards people & demand your room for free. That's disgusting.

Justgotosleepnow · 29/10/2014 22:23

Also, lack of fizz in a glass of bubbly can be due to residue from washing. Ie dirty washing machine not rinsing properly. Grim.
Check for lipstick/lipgloss marks on the glass.

dottytablecloth · 29/10/2014 22:34

I'm staying in a place in Republic of Ireland so hopefully none of you are going at the weekend!

I wasn't overly impressed at the £50 off next stay as we definitely won't be back.

I had to ask the manager to come over and tell him how disappointing our experience was. He seemed to be avoiding me after the waitress told him our complaint.

We haven't been away for so long and this was a little break before dc2, hard earned cash saved for it.

I think I might cry Sad

A WORM!?! Eugh! How horrible! I would be asking for full refund of the meal and free drinks.

£50 off next stay is pretty poor!

dottytablecloth · 29/10/2014 22:34

And yes it was an actual worm from a garden, a baby worm but still a worm.

Leela5 · 29/10/2014 22:35

:( I'm so sorry OP it's shit when you look forward to a special night and something ruins it. Hope you have something fun planned tomorrow

I'd be writing to owner of hotel or chain to complain if it were me

kahori · 29/10/2014 22:40

You poor thing, a tiny glass of Prosecco AND a baby worm. Money off next stay is not on. Make a complaint when you check out.

I'm in Ireland and would love to know where it is. Looking at hotel breaks for DH's 40th and would like to avoid.

dottytablecloth · 29/10/2014 22:41

Just to add this place sets itself up as so poooosh that I sat for a while looking at the worm thinking Confused maybe it's meant to be there and I'm just so unclassy. Then I came to my senses!

dottytablecloth · 29/10/2014 22:43

kahori avoid a castle in Monaghan.

kahori · 29/10/2014 22:45

Thanks dotty. I'm really surprised given the reputation.

Crumbelina · 29/10/2014 22:50

£14! Even a glass of Champagne at the Royal Opera House is 'only' £13.50.

louloudoodah · 29/10/2014 22:54

Noooooo we were looking at a castle in monaghan but 100% will not consider it now.
Trip advisor/fbook review/small claims.
I hope you got a pic of the worm (was it alive or dead btw)
I would not give them a single penny tbh

ThreeQuartersEmpty · 29/10/2014 23:21

A worm in your food! Do not be fobbed off.
Did you mean pounds 14 or euros 14?

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 29/10/2014 23:48

Oooh, if it's the same place (and I suspect it is) I went there with my first husband in 2001, we'd booked a suite for four nights at about £400 a night and ended up buggering off after the first night is was so bad.

Went to Dublin instead and had a cracking time.

bloodyteenagers · 29/10/2014 23:52

You need to start being loud. Everytime one of the waiters passes you by, ask how much longer for the manager. Make sure other guests hear you. Don't sit quietly and wait. Be proactive.
Once you get the wimp ask what he is going to do to rectify this tonight. You will not be fobbed off with a discount for a further stay because with the terrible service, there is little chance of you returning.
You could also hit Twitter and tweet them shocking service, small drink, shocker in food and manager who doesn't want to deal with things.

SouthernComforts · 30/10/2014 00:00

OP I really feel for you, but I did laugh at 'maybe it's meant to be there'.

Complain again and again. I'd go for 'I'm a tired and very pregnant lady trying to have one last break before baby comes so please can you REMOVE THE WORM, GIVE ME A REFUND AND FILL UP THE GODDAMN GLASS'
