"Hell to the no"

"Totes"

"Amazeballs"

(the last two combined)

"Chillax"

"My bad"

"Cray cray"

Surely nobody over the age of 15 should use these words in a serious context (even in a joking context if I'm totally honest)

I have this week heard them all used at work by professional, otherwise intelligent people. Please don't tell me it's me that wants to stuff the nearest bit of junk mail into their pie hold every time they speak like this.

Fuck it ... fudge!

Pointlessfan · 26/10/2014 21:59

YANBU. Can I add "Oh my days" to that list - what does that even mean? Also people who say "yous" when they mean "you" as in "What are yous all doing?" Drives me mad!!

GreatJoanUmber · 26/10/2014 21:59

Someone please enlighten me as to what 'famalam' and 'FOMO' mean?? That would be totes amazeballs!

#clueless
#lol
#craycray,right?

Pointlessfan · 26/10/2014 22:01

Oh and if I read another fashion article with the words "oh so" in it I will explode eg "oh so soft", "oh so sexy" etc. Aaaarrgghh!

GreatJoanUmber · 26/10/2014 22:01

^obviously I need to know this so I can incorporate said phrases in my day-to-day communication!

GreatJoanUmber · 26/10/2014 22:02

It's oh so important to me!

AlbaGuBrath · 26/10/2014 22:07

nannynoss · 26/10/2014 22:17

Um. I have another one.

'Me thinks'

GreatJoanUmber · 26/10/2014 22:19

Time to break out the champers, me thinks!

Someone please tell me what famalam is; I've got major #FOMO!

nannynoss · 26/10/2014 22:20

Joan, we will only tell you if you STOP TORTURING US. Wink

PrimalLass · 26/10/2014 22:22

Sorry, if I have to have it going round in my head now, so do you.

GreatJoanUmber · 26/10/2014 22:25

lolz evilly

YellowTulips · 26/10/2014 22:31

Two doing the rounds at work right now - an import from the U.S. Division are we now "reach out" to people and "data point", the later simply referring to any type of information.

We don't phone or email anymore - sigh. So if you say "who has a copy of the xxx proposal" a typical response is "you should reach out to Daniel to get that data point"

Drives me nuts Smile

BustyCraphopper · 26/10/2014 22:33

I need to know what famalam means...

JingleSpells · 26/10/2014 22:38

All of these are making my teeth itch, but have one more - can we please ban FTW (For The Win), irks me no end!

FoxgloveFairy · 26/10/2014 22:39

Damned fine argument for justifiable homicide in anyone over fifteen years of age. Just an opinion. Surely no jury would convict?

MonsoonInBelize · 26/10/2014 22:42

Sorry but 'teeth itch' is pretty dreadful too.

GreatJoanUmber · 26/10/2014 22:43

Famalam FTW!

(...and here I was thinking it stood for 'Fuck The World', no wonder it never seemed to make any sense)

JingleSpells · 26/10/2014 22:47

Oh no, I thought 'teeth itch' was genuine MN approved language Shock, only heard it on here. Fuck The World sounds far better, could tolerate FTW then!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/10/2014 22:48

Can you add FML to the list? I think I know what it stands for but not really what it means.

ROFLMFAO is another one that makes me murderous.

NightmareBeware · 26/10/2014 22:49

OK, Alba, I'll back down on "updo" if I must, but "pony" instead of "ponytail"? The only thing that should go "into a pony" is a nice crunchy piece of carrot. Grin

MonsoonInBelize · 26/10/2014 22:56

Jingle will let you off - do like Fuck the World very much though Grin!

administrator · 26/10/2014 22:58

Hella. As in,"I'm hella bored."
It seems to be everywhere. It's awful!!
