I don't know enough about Indian culture (I don't even think there is some kind of homogenous Indian culture tbh) to know if this is culturally relevant there, but in the UK I think (hope) probably people don't treat little boys like this any more- the minority who do are obviously abusive and should be dealt with by the appropriate authorities (the guy dragging the poor kid into the pool was painful even to watch, at least it was presumably just acted for this but anyone who does that needs to be told off and possibly monitored by social services). Unfortunately domestic violence (which is, regardless of backlashing fake-statistic-wielding arseholes in denial, primarily committed by men against women) is still an issue in the UK and I agree with the video that this needs to be addressed by changing male behaviour mainly (though of course women need to be helped to escape such situations when necessary). Do you disagree with this, is that what you are saying? If so, what do you think does need to be done to address gendered violence problems? I don't see that ignoring reality is going to help anyone.

I think you've missed the message of the video.

What it's saying is, we've wrongly taught boys not to cry, when instead we should be teaching them it's ok to cry and it's not ok to make girls cry.

It's very clumsily done, but the essential message is good I think - if we want to tackle domestic violence we need to start young, with boys and teach them to express their emotions and respect others.

I like the message that it is men who are responsible for male violence against women (as opposed to the bullshit about women needing to keep themselves safe and not provoke attacks).

Could you clarify what you're asking me please sick? Is there some way I can prevent my husband from hitting me? Is there advice that you want to give sufferers of domestic violence that will help them to avoid their partners attacking them?

Yeah, basically you can stop abuse by hiding your purse. Obviously.

I think that we cannot raise boys teaching them that their feelings do not matter (because remember, boys don't cry ) and then expecting them to be sensitive and empathetic to girls' pain.

I do think, however, that many women are responsible for men's violence towards women. If they raise them as little princes whose wants are always attended to while their mum and sisters cook, iron and clean after them... What do they expect? That the boy is going to see himself as an equal to a woman the moment he says I do?

It's never entered my head that boys shouldn't cry. They're human and have feelings, too. It doesn't make them weak to show their emotions.
