Haunted vessel

I think I'm going to get my SIL a haunted vessel for Christmas. Not a real one, I'm not that mean (although I'd love to!).

AIBU to ask for your help coming up with a suitable name and back story for my haunted doll? I thought I'd present it wrapped in hessian and surrounded by thyme leaves, to keep it 'dormant', and then tell her she has to douse it in holy water every 6 months or so.

Would this be too mean? On the other hand it would give her something to blame all her troubles on, rather than having to take responsibility for her own life. I think she might enjoy it after all Smile

If you know or think she would enjoy it then YANBU. If you were my SIL though it would end up burnt on the nearest fire shudders.

Just not Annabelle lol. How about she was meant to be buried with the elderly lady that had owned her as a child but was taken out just prior to and contains the woman's angry spirit?

I saw one of those haunted dolls on ebay once (don't ask) and it was a grubby baby doll with big white socks on. Part of its story was that you should NEVER remove it's socks, apparently if you do then all hell brakes loose.
It would be too tempting and I would be haunted for life Grin

I think it's a brilliant idea, OP. Do it.

Would she know what it is? Thought I was widely-read but have never heard of them, are they a genre or featured in a film?

Fucking creepy.

The real Annabel doll is a Raggedy Anne. I have one of those. I put it on DD's bed (she's 17). She was not impressed Grin

We sent this up to DH's niece the other year (without prior warning) - she apparently 'shit a brick' on receiving it Grin.

In all fairness, she left the awful thing, known as scary Mary, on our doorstep a few years before. She took a creepy video on her phone and sent it to us, before buggering off home leaving us to deal with with the bloody thing sitting there waiting for us on our return from work (it was bald, has a dodgy eye, and came in a horrid lacy dress)

We turned it into the girl from 'The Ring' - I reckon it looks much better ha ha! Just waiting to see it's next incarnation, as I'm sure it will be gifted back again at some point Grin
