To suspect 17 yo DS of smoking weed in the daytime as he often goes to sleep straight after school ? I know he smokes at parties on weekends so it's not a big leap. Do your DC's have a nap after a day at sixth form or is this weird ? He is generally a hard worker and conscientious, wants to do well at college. Maybe he's partying too much at the weekend and just tired. hopefully

Well they do have to get up very early for school
If left to their own devices they'd sleep until lunchtime

But only you know if he's smoking weed

I wouldn't be happy about him doing it at all

I used to have a nap after college, was knackered! Part of me is wondering why you are bothered if youre not arsed about weekend smoking?
It can be so so so dangerous for adolescent boys. Hope you have given him lots of info on it

I often joke now that I never dropped my afternoon nap until I left university. so it is not unreasonable for him to just be tired.

What time does he go to bed? Maybe he sits up til late on the internet/phone?
I was really busy when I did my a levels, studying, playing competitive sports and volunteering, so often took a cat nap during the day. I def wasn't smoking weed tho! Maybe it's just a teenage thing, they need a lot of sleep at that age.

Theres a growing body of research showing that teenagers' body clocks are different from adults'. They often struggle to fall asleep at a reasonable hour, usually around 12 or 1 am, thus they dont get enough sleep and then have to get up at normal time. When they get home, they are knackered. A couple of schools have changed their opening hours and have had positive effects on results.

I was one of those teenagers and was bloody delighted when these studies came out and made me realise that it wasnt my fault, I wasnt lazy.

I used to love a nap after college.
