To keep DS1(6) off school for a gum abcess?

He is miserable, swollen and tearful. Hoping antibiotics kick in soon but if no better tomorrow was likely to keep him at home. He was off today as had emergency dentist and was very sore.

Sunshine. I can imagine. I have actually screamed with dental pain before now.

Your DH sounds empathy challenged.

I'd keep him home, definitely. He's 6, he's hardly going to fail his A levels because he stayed home when he wasn't well when he was six. Have a nice couple of days with him until the antibiotics kick in and teach him this

I have a gumboil
A belly ache
A pain down my left side
and a pimple on my bum

If he can gargle with 45-50c hot water with salt so it tastes like ocean. It helps draw the infection.

Thanks all. Not too bad night which was surprising. He seems ok this morning bit sore. Day off for him.

DH is an idiot, empathy is his one thing where I just can't understand him. I think because there were periods of the day where DS was brighter he thinks he should be at school. He is the type to go to work regardless of how much pain he is in.

Yes I'd keep him off. I had a gum abscess in my 20s and can still remember the pain
