Hi there. Posting for traffic..

If someone had unprotected sex 12 days ago, did a clear blue test today that says 'pregnant 1-2 weeks' ...is that possibly right.? So soon. If they may have ovulated the day of unprotected sex (very irregular period) I thought clear blue add a week for conception meaning they would date it at 3 weeks pregnant... Sorry. I'm confused

Well, I felt symptoms but then I was being hopeful each month so sometimes they may have been imaginary! Are you doubting whether you can really be pg, or does the dating of the pg matter (eg different partners?).

Same partner. Just don't recall early symptoms. Just trying to get my head around it I guess

If you conceived 5 weeks ago, I would expect the clear blue test to give its "3+" reading. Eventually, a scan could give you a more accurate date, but you need to consider if you want to wait that long (I'm guessing being pg is not what you want right now from your post).

I'm not a single parent so won't pretend to know what's it's like to raise a child on my own. Loads on here have done it though. Or you could decide not to continue the pg, especially while it is so recent.

Perhaps the ex has given you one decent thing though, the baby could be a positive thing eventually for you - all depend on your circumstances/feelings though.
Best you know now though so you can adjust/think what to do.

Pregnancy tests work by picking up traces of hcg in the urine. Hcg is produced when the fertilised egg/embryo had implanted into the endometrium. This usually takes approximately a week, although can sometimes take a little longer. Blood tests can pick up hcg a few days earlier than urine tests.
I have had three kids and each time have known I was pregnant about 4 or 5 days before my period was due because of the effect the pregnancy had on my taste buds and my bladder!
Whoever suggested the MAP - I believe the main way this works is to prevent the fertilised egg from implanting, and therefore can't progress to being an embryo. Can't remember exactly! Whatever it is, it didn't work for us DS (DC3) was the result of my pill being unlikely to work (due to my ulcerative colitis), so used a condom, which split. Took MAP and that didn't work either! DH has now had the snip!
