to go for a new job even though I've only been in this job for 4 months?

Basically I changed professions in June to become a TA within a primary school. I went for an interview (1st one in 6 years) in June, got the job and started on 1st July. Did 4 weeks and then had summer hols. Now been back a month but a job for a TA has come up at my kids school.

So it's nearer, a few more hours, more pay and same hours completely as my kids.
The job i'm in at the moment means I have to put my kids in Breakfast club and after school club so that I can make it to my school before it starts. It costs to put them in breakfast club and then drive an extra 10 miles each way to present job.

I'm not unhappy in my job but feel that the opportunity of this job at the kids school is too good to pass up. AIBU to go for the interview? I mean I might not get the job but at least I can say I tried.

Haven't said anything to present job but they may find out if kids school contact them for reference. I wasn't activily looking and if I don't get the new job I won't be looking for another job as I like the job and enjoy working with all the people. Just feeling a bit do I don't I...

Will the school understand (present school that is!) that it's just to good to pass up?

TIA

I think it's ok, you have to do what works for you. They won't struggle to fill a TA job and you'll have to give a months notice won't you?

People come and go all the time in jobs, it's life.

I would go for it, it sounds like a great opportunity. You can state that you don't want your references contacted unless they offer you the job, I've done that twice when going for jobs that I subsequently got.

I put on the application form no in the part whether they contact them or not so hoping they won't.
Yes I have to give a months notice.

Thank you, I needed a bit of reassurance. Now to plan for my interview.
