Have you ever received a really strange response to a post on here?

I remember about a year ago posting about someone at work who talked constantly about her child, on and on and was I being unreasonable to find it a bit very annoying. I got the usual mix of YABU, YANBU, all perfectly logical responses. Then someone posted 'YABU. Maybe she's nervous', disappeared and never posted again on the thread Confused.

Just wondering what odd or illogical responses you've had to posts on here?

Hmmn, I got told how to speak my language, and that I didn't understand the culture of my mother's country, the country in which I grew up and went to school in. And subjected to lots of little digs in an approximation of said language, which the poster clearly didn't speak despite having claimed to have lived there for several years. When I replied in said language, poster never returned.

That was pretty weird.

Haffdonga · 08/10/2014 17:50

I once replied to a poster who enquired about a local school that threads about that particular school tended to get quickly deleted.

Next thing I knew was i had a threatening legal letter from said school. Hmm

fairgame · 08/10/2014 18:01

Wow haff how the hell did they know who you were and where you lived??
That's really creepy.
I think i know which school QE

Haffdonga · 08/10/2014 18:13

Correct school.

They didn't know where I lived thank god . The contact came via MNHQ from their lawyer and I was asked if I wanted to allow MN to provide my details or to remove my post. i wasn't the only one contacted and actually chose to do neither. Not surprisingly no further action was taken because I hadn't bloody said anything!

Haffdonga · 08/10/2014 18:14

QE lawyer, not MN lawyer, I mean.

PeachyTheSanctiMoanyArse · 08/10/2014 18:35

I once posted that DH had depression, years ago. Someone posted a page long rant about how people like him claiming benefits and stealing their taxes were ruining the UK with lies and depression didn't exist and he disgusted them.....

He was working full time nights for a major haulage company LMAO.

I say LMAO as several people who knew us jumped in and MN did as well, had I been more vulnerable it would have been horrid; but I was furious, then smug.

Topseyt · 08/10/2014 18:39

I remember commenting on a thread about family meals. I said that I don't cook separate meals for each of my children, and I don't provide a full and varied menu every night with several choices because I am not running a restaurant.

I was told that it couldn't be a barrel of laughs living in my house and I must be forcing my family to eat food they didn't like! Confused

I seen some very noteworthy comments on some threads. Recently there was the terrapins thread in AIBU. I think it took place in a restaurant in Greece (could stand corrected on the finer detail). A child aged about 7 had been ticked off sharply by a lady for stoning terrapins in a pool and had slunk off, presumably back to his family who were elsewhere and had not been supervising him. One particular poster suggested that children should not be ticked off sharply, they should be chastised lovingly and affectionately. There was never any excuse for doing it any other way. The fact that he was hurting and could have killed the terrapins seemed to pass her by.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/10/2014 18:41

If someone posted a response like that to me talking about my depression, Peachy, I would be devastated. I am so glad that other posters and MNHQ stood by you.

Spindarella · 08/10/2014 18:44

oooops! captainmummy

mrscumberbatch · 08/10/2014 18:45

Rofl at bastard Ghandi... How did I miss that one.

Irish horse in lift is a true classic. It needs an emoticon of its own.

PeachyTheSanctiMoanyArse · 08/10/2014 19:11

SDTH- yes, it was others that saved the day indeed. And luckily the fact it was so clearly far from true- had he actually been off sick it would have hurt.

CheerfulYank · 08/10/2014 19:28

Tops I remember the terrapins! :o I was with the flicking friend!

But I often get told I'm mean with children because I don't do the whole "softly, softly" thing. It's really not my style. In my world you eat what you're given, don't talk back, stay in your room after bedtime, and don't throw rocks at terrapins unless you expect and adult to tell you to knock it off sharpish and flick you

bendydickcumonmybaps · 08/10/2014 19:48

I once started a thread about something very lighthearted and the first post was from someone having a go at my username, totally weird.
I rarely start threads or post on here because of this sort of thing.

wreckingball · 08/10/2014 19:50

I remember one about punching Dolphins.

CelibacyCakeAndElevatorMuzac · 08/10/2014 20:36

bendydick I remember one where that happened to an OP with (what I thought to be) a childishly witty NN. I jumped in to defend, as did a few others, but the offended poster carried it on. I can't remember the name now but it made me smile at least!

Tapirbackrider · 08/10/2014 22:57

I remember chatting on a thread and giving another poster Wine. A PO flamed me for encouraging alcoholism, and wanted to have it banned as it was morally wrong! Hmm

SolidGoldBrass · 09/10/2014 00:07

This is one of those threads where the only thing to do is moon at your computer and run away again.
U*U

TheSpottedZebra · 09/10/2014 00:23

Ooh bendy, that rings a bell. I was poss the 3rd poster.

bendydickcumonmybaps · 09/10/2014 13:55

I think you may have been...I think the poster in question is a bit prickly and nasty on most threads I have seen them on to be fair. Still not everyone can be nice I guess.

Fenton · 09/10/2014 14:00

Maybe she didn't entirely get your nickname?

I mean I know it's Benedict Cumberbatch, but on first reading it is a bit yuk.

No offence to you, just an observation.

Smile
bendydickcumonmybaps · 09/10/2014 14:15

Yeah maybe... No offence taken as you said it in a polite way

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 09/10/2014 14:15

Yes. It is a funny name.

But you cant really call yourself a name like that and not expect a few people to be a bit shocked Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 09/10/2014 14:16

Have also been rebuked for having a crude name.

bendydickcumonmybaps · 09/10/2014 14:19

Lol...I guess I should have expected someone to be shocked. Its not other peoples humour I suppose

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 09/10/2014 14:22

It is mine Grin
