To think there's no way that number plate was a conicidence

just wasn't

The plate is genuine and has been on that car for years but I still doubt it wasn't considered when they took the car over there.

I was thinking this - that they had a choice of cars somewhere and someone noticed this so it got picked because of it. Then it could be noticed or pointed out during filming but they got a bit more than the bargained for before that point.

I could just see the presenters themselves still being unaware or oblivious till the mob - but seriously doubt everyone involved was.

OwlCapone · 06/10/2014 12:05

And some journalist doing a bit of digging should easily be able to find out what the plate of the car was when they bought it.

Or a Mner :) According to the link in the post immediately before yours, it has had that registration since 2001. Prior to that it seems to have had a personalised number.

VivaLeBeaver · 06/10/2014 12:25

I didnt realise that public info showed when any number plate changes were registered. I'm still not convinced. Yes, ok the plate is genuine.......but was that car bought on purpose?

Panthingies · 06/10/2014 12:35

Clarkson is an utter twat who appears to have never grown up. All 3 of them like giggly fucking schoolboys. Clearly it was on purpose and the whole "don't know what you're talkin' bout sir" nonsense just makes him look like even more of a cunt.
yep, pretty much. Everyone on the trip (presenters, producers etc) will have known immediately, or at least have had it pointed out to them before they got to Argentina. Pity the stoning of the equipment wasn't filmed - viewing that would ease the pain of the licence fee.

As the how is such a great export earner, could they not just film it in the UK, and then sell it abroad without broadcast in the UK? Just an idea.

I probably dislike Hammond most of all, for his mealy-mouthed responses to Clarkson 'bullying' him.

Biscoff · 06/10/2014 12:45

You are so right. These are the guys who went out with pro-homosexual slogans on their cars in the US Deep South.

jacks365 · 06/10/2014 12:49

My assumption is that the car was bought on purpose, they may have had a list of appropriate number plates to wind people up and that was the one which was a. on a suitable car. b. the owner was prepared to sell it. This is after all TG we are talking about they can protest all they like but they have done too many set ups in the past to wind people up to believe this was a genuine oversight. I can not believe that none of the presenters nor production company or crew saw that the number plate could cause offence.

Castlemilk · 06/10/2014 12:51

Yes, no coincidence.

Seems to have at last got to the point where the bad might outweigh the 'good' - ie the ratings.

They really are utter twats.

fairgame · 06/10/2014 12:54

YANBU
definitely not a coincidence. I think they have gone too far this time. The falklands is still a sensitive issue and not something to make a big joke out, especially while being in Argentina. They really aren't as funny as they think they are.

Territt16 · 06/10/2014 13:12

I think its funny, I mean Argentina's are just sore losers in this!

AnyFucker · 06/10/2014 13:15

this is the kind of thing my father would find funny

'nuff said

PrivateJourney · 06/10/2014 13:16

"Pity the stoning of the equipment wasn't filmed - viewing that would ease the pain of the licence fee." I agree it would make fun viewing but without the huge Money Spinner that is Top Gear, wouldn't the licence fee be higher?

OP posts:
Panthingies · 06/10/2014 13:20

As I say - film it in the UK, but only broadcast it abroad and get the export dosh for it without anyone here having their tv time clogged up with it.

FreudiansSlipper · 06/10/2014 13:23

of course not

he is an utter twat

so are the other two who are always up his arse

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 06/10/2014 13:24

Maybe it's just me.... but I wouldn't see FKL and immediately think 'Falklands'. Hmm

PrivateJourney · 06/10/2014 13:26

5m+ UK viewers love it. I don't get it either but there's not much on TV that's more popular.

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 06/10/2014 13:27

when the programme was actually about cars it was ok

now it's just about these guys monstrous egos, so boring

PrivateJourney · 06/10/2014 13:38

But way more popular AnyFucker

Pasithea · 06/10/2014 13:38

Clarkson said on Twitter that they had filmed a good ending , but now due to th Argentinian government the ending was even better.

Let then get on with it. If you want to watch it watch it if not don't. I for instance won't have soaps and certain dramas on in my house. It's a matter of choice.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 06/10/2014 13:48

Yes my DSIS is a H at the end (69/70) - she had a thing about learning registration numbers as a child.

Of course it wasn't an accident, I love top gear, but that doesn't stop them being idiots, sometimes.

I fear Clarkson's old enough and rich enough he wouldn't really care if he got sacked.

He has his Owen production company, I'm sure he could earn a pension selling stuff direct to Dave etc.

The other two, and the production team really need to rein him in

tilliebob · 06/10/2014 20:58

Clarkson is a massive tool and his 2 sidekicks are twats too. Of course it wasn't an accident. It escapes me why people find them amusing - they make my teeth itch.

ohmymimi · 06/10/2014 21:41

Sooo, am I the only one to be disappointed that, if they were genuinely chased by a mob baying for their blood, the mob didn't catch them? Now that would be an episode of TG I'd watch.

Panthingies · 06/10/2014 21:43

yes I was hoping the 'really good ending filmed' would be exactly that. Tossers.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 06/10/2014 21:45

knew this thread was about TG!

agree, nd the fact that JC tweeted all this BEFORE someone else did from the public (like the n word and slope inceident) shows hes hiding in plain sight.

we are MAHOOSIVE TG fans in the Tardis house, but I cant stand the sly digs he (more than JM and RH) gets away with.

he said the Dutch are all drug addicts and then said to the camera ''hello Dutchy''. (drug thing)

they showed the USA cars slogan thing today on DAVE. I was Shock at that.

he digs at geeky looking people in the studio audience (and they don't seem to get that he is) for their looks and stuff (cos hes so handsome, don't you know).

Hes hilarious at times, as are the others, but when he gets nasty I want to never watch TG again.

and how does he get away with it?

AnyoneForTARDIS · 06/10/2014 21:47

and yes was also Shock at the born in the USA Vietnam thing.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 06/10/2014 23:06

Have you noticed he calls Hammond "Hammond" and May "James"? Like May is his posh buddy, but Hammond is just a little bit....other.
