to insist DH take a shower

DH fell and either cracked or bruised his ribs a week ago. He spent the 1st 2 days bedridden. He is up around somewhat the past 3 days. He is having bad spasms at times in his back and ribs.

He hasn't had a shower in over a week now. He is filthy and he reeks.

I am urging him to take one and he is refusing saying he can't stand there that long. I don't believe him. I have offered to put a chair in the shower and anything else to help but he refuses.

Today I got kind of mad at him for refusing. I finally said do you think I am stupid? and he said I was having a go at him.

AIBU to insist he have a shower?

Well that's something, now just the sheet to sort out!

Do you have seperate mattresses?

Otherwise how do you have a sheet on the bed & him not??

Fear of getting tangled is really unusual, isn't it?

Has it previously happened?

Can he not manage to tuck a sheet in properly??

DontDrinkAndFacebook · 07/10/2014 07:56

Well if he's well enough to want to get jiggy then he's definitely well enough to climb in and out of the shower and sleep on a sheet FFS! Hmm

He's sounding like an inveterate soap dodger to me - I think the cracked ribs are just an excuse to be lazy.

I broke ribs and went to work the next day (aided by a lot of painkillers). It was hard but I couldn't afford the time off.I lived.

Tell him to fucking well man up.

ohtheholidays · 07/10/2014 08:06

Has he been to the Dr's to check he hasn't broke them?

slithytove · 07/10/2014 08:16

for carmine

JubJubBirds · 07/10/2014 08:33

At last! Great news,, especially that he did it himself! He must be feeling better.

Fairylea · 07/10/2014 08:38

Great news... although I'm mildly amused it was motivated by the desire to be intimate!

mausmaus · 07/10/2014 09:27

wrt to broken ribs. dr are not doing much. unless ribs are displaced nothing can be done really.
I was sent away (after lots of prodding and crunching) with painkillers and the words 'come back if breathing is getting difficult or you start coughing blood'
no x-rays were taken.

tiredoldmum · 07/10/2014 10:19

mausmaus, is correct. There isn't anything to be done for broken ribs. I just monitored his breathing and pain. many times xrays won't show broken ribs.

I was sent away with co codamol, but I was also told that bruised ribs can be as painful as broken ones, so no prizes for a break!
An xray some time later (unconnected) revealed that I had broken a couple of ribs -one in two places Shock
It tied in, because I could feel it popping in and out of place when I breathed, at times at first.

LeftRightCentre · 07/10/2014 11:59

I will never see how a soap dodger is attractive in any way. Your mattress is probably growing legs.

Only1scoop · 07/10/2014 12:01

EeeeeuuuuuuConfused

ScrambledeggLDCcakeBOAK · 07/10/2014 12:22

See that really pisses me off

He tried to touch your boob and you told him no and miraculasly he was well enough to wash because he's horny

He needs to get a grip!

JubJubBirds · 07/10/2014 12:28

'I could feel it popping in and out of place when I breathed, at times at first.'

It was an odd feeling Jub !

Of course, it may not have been that at all, but I can't explain it otherwise.
