AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

To think that far too many MN'ers see this AIBU section as some sort of competition to see who can be the rudest to the OP?

Been on and off MN for about 5 years now.

Can never seem to stay on it for longer than a few months because the insults and disrespect shown to some OP's, some of whom have genuine questions and concerns, irritates me so much.

Some of the comments are so blunt and inconsiderate is unreal.

'You've GOT to be joking' - why? Because you don't agree with what the OP is saying?

It seems like folk like to hide behind their keyboards and use this as a way to mouth off.

I'm quite sure some the hardcore regulars will now be telling me to go and use NetMums as apparently they aren't as........blunt shall we say?

Errr...I think you've just proved a case in point. There's some tension in some of the posts above. Never understood how some MN posters seem to take a reasonable question/observation/query personally and go on the attack. Lack of sleep? Too much caffeine? Or just latent bullying tendencies manifesting themselves from behind the security of an anonymous pseudonym....Honeydragonmumshnet-comedy gold! High 5.

YANBU, there are some hard faced biatches on this site. BUT... I think that's why I like it. In RL, everyone I know is nice and there's no drama. I like to come on and see all the scrappy behaviour, especially if it's combined with witty banter Grin
I have seen a few flamings that have made me uncomfortable with the tone and language directed at the op, but I think that it's par for the course, and hope that op's are able to step back and ignore it if it really starts to get to them. I'm still fairly new on here so time will tell if it starts to irritate me more after a while.

Always worth reminding people to post in the topics not AIBU when they have genuine questions and concerns

Though I have seen that advice criticised as "unwelcoming" on a thread. Is it so, or is it better to say there are many other topics?

Why thank you Coco Thanks

I do think its sad that some posters are consistently unpleasant on AIBU, but it's more vexing when it seeps across the other boards.

Bulbasaur · 02/10/2014 22:46

You kidding? The histrionics are why I stick around. Grin

There's always chat. They're a laid back bunch.

I just don't engage with the idiots here. If they don't agree with me, I can't put water in a full cup. More over, I really don't care about their opinion. Not even a little.

But it is a fun forum, just don't come on if you're sensitive and take the internet seriously.

Mintyy · 02/10/2014 22:47

Strongly disagree with SaucyJack. Aibu is NOT just here to host pointless arguments.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 02/10/2014 23:01

You do need a sense of humour and not take yourself too seriously.

I find on here and in RL that's a good mantra.

Sometimes AIBU is about pointless arguments and other times it's serious problems.

One persons perception of a flaming or rudeness is another persons robust opinion.

Some people are naturally more sweary.

I honestly can't remember the user name of more than one poster who was a consistent bitch.

Strokethefurrywall · 03/10/2014 01:28

I fucking love AIBU!! It kept me amused through both my mat leaves and most of my work day frankly

I rarely post unless it's something really ridiculous. Most of the time if the OP isn't being unreasonable I never bother posting and if the OP is being RIDICULOUSLY unreasonable then a million other people have already said the same thing when I want to tell them they're a fucking lunatic.

But I do like to watch from the sidelines at the ridiculousness of it all.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 03/10/2014 01:41

Very goady and daft thread on the board right now.

Easily spotted, either a journalist or a real life twat head.

Can't be arsed to post on it.

Traditional breakfast anyone? Wink
