To think Kate Moss doesn't need to do this to support breast cancer charity

It's demeaning women for her to pose like this and I would imagine that a woman who has had a mastectomy wouldn't appreciate Kate's perky breasts coming out in sympathy.

Haven't you seen that David Gandy and Calvin Klein are raising awareness of testicular cancer through Gandy posing in a pair of tight whiteys with his balls hanging out, complete with a natty blue ribbon perched on top?

Behoove · 03/10/2014 11:57

margot I don't believe you, would need a picture to prove it.

ShatnersBassoon · 03/10/2014 12:06

Nothing says 'please be mindful of your health' like a shexy pout and a teasing peep of booby. It's reminded me to get my eyes tested at least, because they've stated hurting with all the uncontrollable rolling they do.

ClaudetteWyms · 03/10/2014 12:12

YANBU, and I have also had bc and have one hacked up wonky boob as a result.

It is in very very poor taste and shows what a detached world some of these "fashion" people live in, where everything is a "sexy" style statement. I bet they are too dim and/or up their own arses to even notice or care how fucking offensive they are.

Kate Moss absolutely does not look like that in real life either. It's all fake.

noddyholder · 03/10/2014 12:17

Obviously they used her as she is high profile and they need that.

CateBlanket · 03/10/2014 13:04

But do they need her to expose one breast and put a pink ribbon on her nipple FFS?

Kind of off the subject but, to me, KM represents the unacceptable side of capitalism. She doesn't have any discernible skills/talents but, by pure genetic luck, has been able to make tens of millions of pounds by standing around pouting.
Doctors/nurses/ teachers etc train for years and work their arses off doing something of value to society but earn a fraction of what she does just because she was born looking a particular way.
Footballers, film stars etc also earn eye watering sums of money but at least they have an actual talent.
My best friend died of breast cancer age 34 and she detested the whole pink thing.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 03/10/2014 14:04

Advert is in poor taste.

Buy why use only females for such breast cancer awareness campaigns as well?. Breast cancer does not just affect women; men can have breast cancer too.

purpleapple1234 · 03/10/2014 15:08

It is all so sad that to get publicity for illnesses people often think that going down the sexy route works. And it does. We are talking about it because it is kate moss and because she sort of but not quite gets a boob out (this is probably considered to be on the right side of tasteful by the idiots who conceived the actually tacky idea). The aim of this was clearly attention - for the disease primarily I guess - but if kate gets some good pr and Stella sells some more clothes all the better. So sad and so not in the right spirit for people who are suffering or have suffered. Too sexy and too frivolous to match the servity of the disease.

Sallyingforth · 03/10/2014 17:03

A heavily photoshopped picture of a celeb, on the pretext of supporting a charity. Exactly what you'd expect to find in the Mail. Nothing special there then.

I just wish she'd keep her mouth shut, rather than look as if she's offering the photographer a BJ.

merrymouse · 03/10/2014 17:54

Have just had a complete brainwave!!!!!!!!

Men stop shaving to promote awareness of male cancers.

Wouldn't it be more relevant for celebs to grow their armpit hair to encourage women to check their breasts?

If you plaited your underarm hair with little pink ribbons you could check your breasts at the same time?

OfaFrenchMind · 03/10/2014 18:19

I don't know. I see a nice pair of boobs, I feel like I would like mine to remain as pretty as long as possible (I quite love them).
I seems ridiculous but it makes me more aware of them and I actually do the recommended groping and evaluating to check they are alright. And I book mammographies. I guess we all react differently.

On KM, the thing I like the most about her, is that she is never preachy. Yes, she is a terrible role model, but she is not hypocritical, keep her mouth shut and cash in.

CateBlanket · 03/10/2014 19:41

Oh no - the men are at it now!

The only difference between that picture, and a nude on page 3 of the Sun, is that one is allegedly in aid of a charity and the other sells newspapers.

If we condemn page 3, then we should equally condemn this picture. They are both low grade prostitution.

I don't think every nude picture is objectification

I didn't say it was. Nudity in art is fine, and display of the nude body is perfectly acceptable in a natural context.

But this published picture is just a cheap self-advertisement on the pretext of helping a charity. As others have said above, it probably does more harm than good to awareness of the disease.
