To think Kate Moss doesn't need to do this to support breast cancer charity

link

It's demeaning women for her to pose like this and I would imagine that a woman who has had a mastectomy wouldn't appreciate Kate's perky breasts coming out in sympathy.

That's a better idea, toooldtobearsed

I would much rather see/hear your take on this than the pampered princess likes of Stella Mc and Kate Moss.

elportodelgato · 01/10/2014 20:47

Well having had my left boob removed relatively recently due to breast cancer, this picture has given me the idea of having a large pink ribbon attached where my nipple should be. Do you think my surgeon would go for that?

FuckOffWeasel · 01/10/2014 20:49

Oh yes, page 3 were getting their boobs out for breast cancer too wern't they? Because that's what a woman who has major life changing illness and surgery needs, pics of perfect tits.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 01/10/2014 20:50

Yes brilliant idea Tooold

AF yes can just see lots of stupid twats copying that.

Pointless people both of them

elportodelgato · 01/10/2014 20:50

Oh yes, make page 3 acceptable by pretending it's about cancer. They kind of lost me with the hashtag #copafeel though Angry

Izzy24 · 01/10/2014 20:52

I couldn't care less. I've had a double mastectomy and a disastrous experience with implants. I'm glad to be alive but I MISS my breasts very much for all sorts of reasons. But I don't begrudge other women their breasts, beautiful or otherwise .

specialsubject · 01/10/2014 20:55

wow, retouching has got really good. All the wrinkles from her wedding photos have completely gone.

at least she doesn't have blown-up boobs, but that's really all that can be said about her.

and yes, the whole idea is incredibly tasteless.

CorporateRockWhore · 01/10/2014 21:03

I loved SM's explanation 'I wanted women to put the set on in the morning and think about checking for symptoms. Oh, and it's stylish and comfortable, too. Hmm

PhaedraIsMyName · 01/10/2014 21:38

I really am not being bitchy or jealous but I have yet to see a photograph of Kate Moss where I have thought "wow , she looks fabulous" Quite the reverse.

NutcrackerFairy · 01/10/2014 22:24

Yawn.

Yes, bet it will be that other overexposed supermodel posing next, Cara Delivagina or whatever her name is.

BTW, talking about 'supermodels' why does the media keep insisting on promoting Daisy Lowe and Suki Waterhouse as great beauties.

They must have fantastic publicists as both are reasonably pretty girls but nothing more special than thousands of other attractive 20 year olds you see out and about.

It really is all a lot of bollocks isn't it.

FrancesNiadova · 01/10/2014 22:42

Elporto, it was my left boob that I lost too! I've had a nipple reconstruction now, but it's still quite flat, certainly not enough to balance a pink ribbon on!
Good Luck with your recovery. Keep doing your stretching exercises & get yourself a V pillow for support.
It does get better -x- Thanks

ItsFunnierInEnochian · 02/10/2014 07:52

Kate Moss is a fucking moron.
Never understood all the fuss.
Yack.

Lottapianos · 02/10/2014 07:58

I think this is incredibly insensitive. I agree with a previous poster that showing the reality of a mastectomy scar would be much more powerful. But that's not cute and pink and fluffy is it? I hate all the pink shit around breast cancer too

CateBlanket · 02/10/2014 13:02

Why cause distress by showing a mastectomy scar? What's the point in frightening woman about something they can do very little about preventing?
Raise awareness by encouraging women to see their doctor if they notice any changes in their breast not just lumps.
Ask for donations. Job done.

She's a clothes model. Modelling clothes. So much needless shaming on this thread :(

Lottapianos · 02/10/2014 13:12

Because women who have mastectomies have a right to be seen and heard and to show their scar, if they want to. I don't find mastectomy scars frightening. It might help women who have been through similar to feel less 'other' and less alone.

And it would be a damn sight more relevant to the campaign than a pink lacy bra worn by a supermodel.

Totally agree Empire, the 'sexiness' aspect is pretty grim

JoycemynameisJoyce · 02/10/2014 13:16

If the people who have had breast cancer don't like it, well I'm going with them, they get the say in my house.

Also, I can remember when KM was my age, we seem to have drifted apart over the years.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 02/10/2014 13:17

I agree with Bellossom. She's a model modelling; so far so fine. I actually think she a very good model.

IamtheZombie · 02/10/2014 13:17

Mastectomy scars are distressing? Oh, dear. Does that mean Zombie shouldn't have pictures of hers on Facebook, Twitter and here on MN? That would be a shame as she was about to update them to show how well the scar from the mastectomy in April is settling in.

JoycemynameisJoyce · 02/10/2014 13:20

Mastectomy scars are not distressing. The emotions behind the illness are distressing, the sadness, the fear of almost losing mum was distressing but her scars, not so much.

nicename · 02/10/2014 13:21

Ouch! Was that pined on?

weebarra · 02/10/2014 13:27

I'm with you on that one Zombie. I'd prefer to have my breasts but hey, if I had my breasts I'd be dead by now. Leaving three children under 7. Now that would be distressing.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 02/10/2014 13:51

I like Kate Moss. I'm wondering if the dislike is more to do with people who don't like her than for what she's doing. Be honest, if Sheridan Smith, Olivia Coleman or the late Maya Angelou had done this in support of breast cancer charities... would there still be the same annoyance?

I don't like seeing people shaving their heads for cancer charities but some people do like that kind of thing. This isn't so far removed but what it is doing is raising the profile when really, Kate Moss's profile is already high enough so perhaps assume there is some altruistic reason rather than a 'look at me' thing because she already has that profile and attention.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 02/10/2014 13:53

Gone back through thread to read it. Agree with Bellosam. Some nasty and/or jealous posts up there. Wow.
