To think Kate Moss doesn't need to do this to support breast cancer charity

It's demeaning women for her to pose like this and I would imagine that a woman who has had a mastectomy wouldn't appreciate Kate's perky breasts coming out in sympathy.

It's not "shaming her" for fucks sake. Point out that what she is doing is going to be upsetting real women, who don't happen to be models and do happen to be suffering from a real illness. She's the one who should consider other people's feelings.

weebarra · 02/10/2014 13:57

I have no feelings about Kate Moss one way or the other. I saw her wedding dress at the V&A exhibition last weekend, and very nice it was too. Personally I object to seeing breasts as awareness raising for breast cancer. Doesn't matter whose breasts they are.

Amrapaali · 02/10/2014 14:12

I would like Angelina Jolie to front this campaign. Obviously sans lacy ribbon or overpriced PJs.

CuttedUpPear · 02/10/2014 14:16

Kate Moss's boobs make me want to hide mine away and never look at them again, let alone get them out and check them.

Well done, marketing people, you shot yourselves in the foot there.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 02/10/2014 14:25

Pear but that's how you feel, it doesn't necessarily make others feel that way. I don't think Kate's boobs are particularly anything to write home about but as a whole package, I think she's fantastic. Seeing her alongside the headline grabs attention and it's a reminder to check your breast as far as I'm concerned.

Amrapaali I'd forgotten that Angelina Jolie underwent a double mastectomy but as I'm not a fan of hers, I possibly wouldn't make that correlation.

Maybe there should be a whole host of celebrity women promoting this? Bound to be one that appeals and the whole message gets across to the masses of women who need to be aware and do this.

CalamityKate1 · 02/10/2014 14:28

Posing skills??

I give my bra a yank like that all the time to let the biscuit crumbs out.

JoycemynameisJoyce · 02/10/2014 14:30

I think KM is stunningly photogenic and I love that she rarely gives interviews. But this isn't about KM, it's about whapping out healthy baps to promote awareness of ill ones and if the people who have gone through breast cancer find it upsetting, then I think we should allow their opinion to lead the way.

merrymouse · 02/10/2014 14:34

Hmm.

The bra costs £50 and an unspecified percentage goes to Linda McCartney cancer charity.

I think I'd prefer to make a donation that qualified for Gift Aid and buy a bra from M&S.

We're coming up to Movember. I wonder if we can expect similarly revealing pics of male celebs?

Pippidoeswhatshewants · 02/10/2014 14:37

YANBU.
I'd rather they got somebody famous to use their talking skills to raise awareness. Posing skills ffs.

CateBlanket · 02/10/2014 20:08

Be honest, if Sheridan Smith, Olivia Coleman or the late Maya Angelou had done this in support of breast cancer charities... would there still be the same annoyance?

Yes. I don't like to see women posing topless under any circumstances.

Yup

Yup

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2014 20:28

At least it's a tiny bit relevant. It's PETA with their naked people everywhere that piss me off. Let's solve all the world's problems by objectifying women.

I have a lot of problems with the whole pink ribbon campaign ever since I came across Pink Ribbons Inc -

Trailer -

My heart goes out to these poor DM staffers who are given a picture of a topless Kate Moss, along with a total non-story and told to write 600 words about it without deviating from the subject "topless Kate Moss photograph". What do you SAY?

she's had a baby, a few relationships and has got married now.

whoop-de-do.

she gets paid to wear clothes and sometimes to strip. Easy money.

we all have to earn a living, but not feeling the role-model love here.

Lottapianos · 02/10/2014 21:48

Dear me, that Stella McCartney quote is one of the most stupid things I've ever read.

Isn't it just.

blanketyblank100 · 03/10/2014 01:04

ynbu, it's in poor taste.

AlleyCat11 · 03/10/2014 01:17

Whatever about Kate Moss, the whole thing just looks wrong. My brain registered a "no!" the minute I saw it...

TheRealAmandaClarke · 03/10/2014 09:30

Yanbu
Very poor taste.
As someone else said, it seems so many problems can be solved by objectifying women.
Its quite offensive really. And now I wait for a bunch of men people to respond with "don't be such a killjoy. If it raises awareness then surely its a good thing"
Fuck off.

nicename · 03/10/2014 09:53

I eagerly await the prostate cancer awareness campaign. Or maybe not.
