Right am really exposing myself for a potential flaming here but anyway...

Am making a sausage casserole today with the following ingredients:

Butcher sausages
2 peppers
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Onions
Tin chopped tomatoes
Fusilli pasta

And now for the Blush bit a JAR of Lloyd Grossman tomato sauce

It's a made up recipe a la dotty so please forgive me if that's not what a sausage casserole is supposed to be like!

Anyway SIL was her earlier and says she wouldn't feed that to her 3 year old as it's junk food.

I'm mortified

I thought it was quite nutritious.

I've a very fussy 20 month old who loves sausages.

AIBU and deluded to serve this up and think it's not junk food?

I only drink water Black coffee and wine

Yes quite, I drink tea, coffee, water and wine and diet coke That's kinda my point.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/09/2014 17:36

I drink water, soya milk and tea and never drink alcohol-I'd bite your hand off for a big slab of chocolate cake thoughWink

Thumbwitch · 28/09/2014 17:39

Ah, misunderstood your "just" water (silly me! I thought you meant "just water in a glass without anything else added to it") - I do also drink wine and other things, although very rarely tea or coffee, unless it's herbal tea. Preference. I do like a nice mug of hot chocolate at times, too. :)

LeftRightCentre · 28/09/2014 17:55

I drink bleach mixed with absinthe.

squoosh · 28/09/2014 18:07

I drink badger's piss mixed with turpentine.

serenaserene · 28/09/2014 18:17

Exactly how much of this 'junk' is your 20 month old going to eat anyway?

When mine were that age, one would only eat bread, cheese, raisins and bananas. The other wouldn't touch pasta if it had anything other than cheese on it.

I really think proper education about nutritional awareness needs to be urgently introduced onto GCSE curriculum. Way too many people have no basic understanding of good vs bad food. The fact is we all just eat too much!

LeftRightCentre · 28/09/2014 18:18

You are going to get bovine TB and die, squoosh, research has shown badger piss is unhealthy.

HavanaSlife · 28/09/2014 18:23

At 20 months mine would eat anything that was put in front of them, it was later that any fussiness (sp) started

I like water if its really cold but I also drink orange squash , diet coke and coffee.

I have absolutely no idea what ds1 drinks all day. The others drink water, occasionally watered down apple juice, milk and ds2 likes a cup of tea occasionally

squoosh · 28/09/2014 18:24

It's artisan badger piss presented in a quirky jam jar, so hopefully I'll be okay.

HavanaSlife · 28/09/2014 18:24

That or a black eye from a very pissed off badger if your standing under it while its trying to pee.

Big nasty fuckers

LeftRightCentre · 28/09/2014 18:31

I hope the turpentine isn't processed. I source my bleach from organic sources and my absinthe is made from wormwood and digitalis.

The kids only get the bleach, though. They stopped eating the raw sheep offal I put in front of them and we had to switch to Herta frankfurters.

squoosh · 28/09/2014 18:44

I hope your bleach is produced by Mongolian yak herders and isn't Asda own brand?

Give the nippers a nip of absinthe, marvellous stuff for nurturing their inner Toulouse-Lautrec.

Does Babybel count as cheese? DD1 used to chew on the plastic cover. It was hard to tell the difference between that and the actual Babybel.

That sound utterly grim, quietbat!

Ds3 didnt know what to make of a babybel when given one, thought it was for rolling around the floor!

ProudAsPunch92 · 28/09/2014 20:09

Who drinks water...? I prefer my own piss - recycling and all that..

combust22 · 29/09/2014 06:49

Fresh water is the best drink and the favourite of our family. Bu then our tap water comes from mountains in Scotland. I may feel differently if I lived in the Thames region.

AndyWarholsOrange · 29/09/2014 07:49

I actually feel quite sorry for anyone able to write a thesis with 20 page appendix on Advanced Statistical Analysis of a jar of Pasta Sauce. There really are more important things to worry about. My DCs are all on their second bowl of cereal which as we all know should actually be renamed "shit in a box" (genuine quote from another bonkers food thread).

LeftRightCentre · 29/09/2014 08:57

I live in the mountains of W. Scotland, too, but we all prefer Stella.

Greengrow · 29/09/2014 09:10

I agree. It's not complex. Eat good foods and you will be fine.
