No you're not. I grieved terribly for the things that one of my dcs would struggle with. But, said dc has a full, enriched life. Children are incredibly adaptable. Most often, what they lack in one area, they make up for in another.
The only advice I can offer is to allow your child to experience things even if you're not sure how successful they can be (sorry if that's not relevant to your situation).

And yes do shop around for insurance that is affordable. Have you contacted the national 'body' or organisation for the condition? Often they can point you to insurance companies that can help.

Is it a specific condition? I have had one of my Dc's travel on a policy that disallowed a specific condition.
I made sure we holidayed in a European country that accepted the European Health card, where the standard of English was excellent...

I found another insurance, but first the ones who refused me put me through to another company "who'd be happy to help", who made the most ridiculous, exploitative offer - and that upset me even more, that they'd try to exploit my position like that :-(
